Low fuel = reduced power

Low fuel indicator came on followed by a reduced power notification.
Power was severely limited with something like a 3500 rpm cutoff.
I didn’t pay attention if the reduced power came on right away or increased after I drove a few miles with the light on.
Filled up and message popped up with something like fuel recalculated.
Car is now operating as expected.
Never seen this before, hopefully doesn’t happen as soon as the low fuel warning comes on. This is usually when someone wants to play

Interesting, thanks for relaying. I am never a fan of seeing that light, always prefer to fill up at about 1/4 tank. Low fuel light makes me anxious..

C'mon that's soft... it's how many miles you go after it reads 0 that counts

Given my poor history with 1st year BMW’s this has me little spooked.
Hopefully it was a fluke.
500 miles to go until break in service. I’ll have them check the logs to see what happened.

Just noticed you’re local to me, when did you get yours? I’ve to a couple of cars and coffees looking for another G80 to park next to. Lol

I used to get the low warning right around 1/4 tank in my F80, maybe a little more. Glad the F92 has a larger tank.

I’m in the south suburbs. I need to get out of the house so would definitely meet up at a c&c really anywhere. Please shoot me a pm when one is coming up. Hopefully I’ll be past break in

Hearing that I’m not the only one to experience this makes me feel better. Thanks for commenting.

Definitely a real thing for me at least.
At around 20 miles to go got reduced power message with reduced 4K redline.
An attempt to avoid someone running lean during spirited driving?

Seems like a smart idea honestly. You shouldn't really be pushing the car with less than ~30 or so miles left of fuel anyways.

Especially on my M2C with it's lousy 13.7 gallon tank.

Did OP really say he was going to have the dealer check the logs over this? It's by design man what are they supposed to check?

Well I’ve never seen this before from any car I owned.
At 1st service writer said it was not normal, then called me back and said it is.
All good just an interesting feature.
Given how this thing goes through gas at full send it’s probably a great thing.
Lean is bad
