Enable Tach on HUD Display?

I just took delivery of my G80 on March 15th. I tried setting up my HUD to display the tachometer. I did this previously in my MX5 and other BMW's that have this capability. However, I found the setting in my HUD options in my G80 but when I switch the configure view to "Sport" instead of "Road", it won't stick or stay in Sport. I even tried driving in M1 and or M2 mode and the HUD still won't display the tachometer. Has anyone else ran into this issue or has gotten this to work?

You have to push "M Mode" by the shifter. It changes the gauge cluster and the HUD. It also turns off some of the nannies.

Good to know. I'll try that later today. Do you know if you can have this setup when you press the M1 or M2 rather than using the M Mode button by the shifter?

Pressing the M Mode by the gear shift does indeed display the tachometer within the HUD. However, I still cannot find where I can press M1 or M2 and the HUD will change with these buttons to include the tachometer. I can only enable the tachometer with the HUD if I use the M Mode button down by the gear shift.

Anyone experience this as well or am I just not seeing how to configure this correctly? Thanks in advance for any asssitance.

I can get the tach (horizontal bar) to show up in the HUD but not the sideways “hockey stick” tach with shift indicators config as shown on pg 168 of the OM. OM does not give instructions how to call that up. Spoke to 2 genius’s and they don’t know either.

not in the G80 unfortunately, M Mode is the only way to enable “sport” view. you can in the X3M though.

I too have the same challenge. Will try the button next to the shifter. The manual and my BMW Genius indicate that it should be able to switch through pressing the M buttons once you configure it in the set up. So far, no joy.....

Yeah no luck setting it up to change to Sport HUD with M1/M2... seems like a pretty big oversight.

I was wondering about this today. Has anyone found a solution? Seems like an oversight from BMW maybe a simple update can solve this.

Its still not possible. I have even updated to the latest idrive version and still no way to do this. It's as if BMW wants to keep the m-mode button relevant.
Hope bimmercode will be able to do that soon.

That make sense but sucks having to press that button everytime. I have yet to drive the car with non M view 😂

Is this possible yet without pressing the button? There is an option in bimmercode and when I coded it, for a moment I jumped out of my seat when I saw the tachometer on HUD without pressing the m mode button. but restart car and all back to stock again. Huge oversight and this could have been added to the new idrive update

Sounds like you have reduced height on for the HUD. Check to see if you do. If so, uncheck it and see if you get the hockey stick
