Here's the car he drove:

https://www.performance-bmw.com/vehi...sale_class=new

2) He literally never shifts the M3C above 4000RPM. In fact, at 15:13, the non-track view appears to show the rev limiter set to 4000RPM (screenshot attached). This is consistent with the car not allowing him to downshift into 4th at highway speeds.

In the M340i, he took it to redline multiple times without issues. Clearly, the M3C is in some sort of transit/valet/limp mode.

Anyone who has driven this car can tell you that the new M3 is significantly faster than an M340i. The overall drive is on another level; you definitely don't get "faster M340i" vibes. Go drive one for yourself.

This guy should redo the review with the M3C "unlocked".
I know the G8x shows this "rev limiter" when it's not completely warmed up, but that's a very interesting finding.

I felt he was not revving the G8x high enough to explore its full potential which is why I made the comment that maybe the G8x down low is not noticeably faster than the M340i.

If this guy had some sense of professionalism he would've explained what's going on rather than have his viewers try to explain.

I think I faintly heard the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme during that sequence when he was trying to figure out why the M3C felt slow.

Inserting that theme into his video may have actually redeemed some of the damage he just did to his career prospects.

He should have been more honest and open about constraints.

He tried to do the Doug Demuro thing with a dealership borrowed car. And like Doug, he took care of the expensive car for the owners and was a little bit more liberal with the massive volume produced M340i.

There's a reason that press cars exist. Guilt free hooning. I doubt the dealership gave him the OK to hammer on the M3, HEA or not.

RE: 440i vs M4

I'll hold off my opinion until we see a AWD M4 BUT....the M4 waking up at the top end basically illustrates why you may never see the difference between these two cars on the streets. And for some people the M340i/M440i will make them happy enough.

And for those people we also have factory discount outlet malls where you can pick up a B Grade Canali suits for 3/4 of the price.

Random youtube blowhard surely must demonstrate he's a random youtube blowhard. Pass.

I have an M340i and an X3MC. The S58 X3MC is faster for sure, as long as you rev it out. The driving feel from the M-lite to M car is exponetially different as well. The M340i is a mindblowingly good daily with very rapid acceleration easily on tap so I'm not discounting it but it's not an S58 powered M car. Taking the X3M and chopping out 500 lbs at massively lowered CoG can only do wonderful things.

This is absolutely embarrassing for a reviewer to have that happen not much better than trying to drive the car with the parking brake on lol imagine parroting this video around as evidence the m3 isn't that good lol

yep the M3 in this video def is in some limp mode for transit purpose, when I went to check out my car yesterday that hasn't gone through PDI the redline stayed at 5k ish... so i wonder if they purposely left that in place for his "review" ?

embarrassing video really if he missed this key fact, or he's just shilling for the dealer to help selling that overpriced m perf edition m340 for base m3 money... I see him defending himself in the comments saying he "took it above 4k multiple times", yea maybe to 4500 LOL

Everything he claims (taking it over 4k, launching to spinning tires in the cold) just happens to not be caught on video.

It 100% is I just saw all his started threads are of his own videos. No wonder he was so defensive and he probably wants a discount from the dealer for the M340i

I mean cool idea with comparing them, but then at least get:
a) your facts straight
b) check that both car are on their full potential

just my opinion on this video...

He turned the video private.

This guy also claimed that the boot/trunk lid could be open with your foot and that he was able to do it.

Has anyone been able to or is it more fables?

I wouldn’t be surprised since you can do that on my 2015 F80...
I say can, since I’ve done it once in 7 years. Totally unnecessary, silly sh*t if you as me.
