If it was safe for ZF8 emulate the "brutal" shifting characteristics of a DCT, they would have programmed it to do so from factory. Also, G8X ZF is likely going to be one of, if not, the most aggressive implementation of ZF yet - BMW has more at stake in living up to DCT than XHP does tuning an auto, so I would find it hard to believe that BMW would purposely keep the slight power reduction under load unless there is a very good reason for it. Edit: woah that comes off almost kind of angry, not meant to be lol. Just providing another thought for the discussion

But for now, will BMW care? Maybe, if they see a lot of warranty claims/repairs regarding the AT transmissions - but it is still very early in the G8x life cycle of course. However, the 8HP AT family by ZF has a very stout performance and reliability record - it is used in almost all BMWs with AT now. So with any luck, the transmissions in the M cars will be able to take the future abuse of aftermarket transmission tunes without too much drama from BMW - at least until the warranty period is up, after which BMW won't care what happens.

This ZF8 compare to ZF8 on F13 650i is much faster but not as fast and aggressive as MDCT on M6; however is not jerky like MDCT. If I want to pick one definitely MDCT is my choice all day, but still happy with this ZF8.

I'm not feeling the new automatic trans. I like the DCT on my F80. You guys like the new trans?

I do like it. Took me a little bit to get used to it (coming from an f80 zcp), but now I enjoy it a lot. Not as much low end torque of course, but much more "linear" for a lack of better term through all the gears. I also enjoy being able to put the car in park when I have to haha
