Is it just me or is the rear brake caliper on the new M3 shameful?
Seems like they could have done a lot better cosmetically. Even if not dictated by performance needs.

Perhaps a larger caliper apparatus for appearance with the same sized actual brake part?

electronic hand brake screwed it over.
All cars have those ugly calipers now. Looks do not bother me but the pad replacement is a pain One needs a BMW comp to address the brake to replace pads in rear, will be PIA at the track. I'm thinking of just putting g DTC 70 pads in there and leaving them there for the street too. |

Small rotors, ugly.
Small calipers, don’t care as long as braking power is sufficient. Big bulky calipers can actually look like ungainly and heavy chunks of metal. |

Even Ford managed to incorporate an electronic handbrake along with decent rear calipers on the Shelby Mustang, as do several other manufacturers...

Is this possible to do on the G8x? Maybe with a custom bracket and use the smaller caliper strictly for the handbrake? Is it possible??

I’m interested in the aftermarket options that will allow larger rear caliper replacement and still provide rear parking e-brake capabilities

I’d say as long as rear pad swaps could be done in the paddock that match the performances of front pad selection or driving dynamics could be severely mismatched. The track junkies I guess will have a way to swap out both axle sets and not use parking brake assist.
Argument could be said for most all brake setups... focus only on front and no need to add unsprung weight to the rear and leave them alone... |

It'll be interesting to see what rear caliper options come out. I will admittedly miss the aesthetic beauty of the F8X brakes.

^ good to know. Pre production fear mongering with people saying you need a computer etc. to change rear pads.
Sucks that they don’t last long on the track. |

Turn off the DSC/MDM. The stability control works largely through the rear brakes, and they will wear much faster than expected.
Of course, the alternative is crashing, so maybe you should just leave it on.
