Why do so many of the first batch of cars have 826 wheels?

It seems that pretty much all of the cars that BMW has put out there for dealers and in videos all have the 826 Bicolor wheels. I've seen close to zero cars with the 825s on them. Any thoughts why? I suppose the 826's look a little more sporty? Are a little lighter?

I ordered the 825 Bicolor as I thought they would have a little more pop and that the 826 bicolor seemed not so bicolor in comparison, but rather had a much more muted look. It seems in the videos I'm starting to see there is a little more reflectivity with that lighter part of the 826's than I had thought. It's too late for me to change my order now, but I might have gone that way had I seen some of these vids. I'm hoping the 825's aren't too bright in comparison.

This was the initial video I saw that made me like the 825's.

You must not be looking. Every initial video and photo I saw had the 825 wheels.

I think he means of the recently delivered cars to dealers... most have some variant of 826M wheels.

OP, I'm in the same boat as you.. I think the silver 825M wheels pop a bit more with certain colors like IOMG. I saw the bi-clor 826M wheels in person and they are still pretty dark; similar to the "black" 666M wheels or the "black" 473M wheels. In most light the lighter portions will appear dark but in certain light the reflections will make it appear less dark. In my picture below, that's about as bright as they get. Like you said, it's a bit muted as compared to the bright silver portion of the 825M.

I found this video on instagram of basically the exact spec I'm thinking of... IOMG over KO with black calipers and silver 825M wheels. I think it looks fantastic. I think the 826M wheels look great and are probably a lb or two lighter, but work better on sportier builds.

Correct, yes, all recently delivered ones seem to be 826.

I wish there was a way to see colors, wheels, etc before ordering them. It's kind of a best guess based on internet pics what you're ordering at this point. I'm just hoping the 825's aren't going to be too bright in person.

I think it depends on the market

For some markets the 824M is the standard wheel
The 825M is the standard wheel for the base/MT
The 826M being the standard wheel for the Competition as it's the lightest set of wheels offered.

In HK, the 826M is the standard wheel set for the 6MT model.
The 825M is the standard wheel set of the Competition model.
The 824M is a free no-cost option, so it means that you've already paid for the 19/20. If you ordered the 6MT model you would need to pay extra to get the 825M.

My belief is that a lot of people don't care what the wheels are, and just choose whatever comes with the car (Bi-color or Black).

Interesting theory
