AWD Buyers - what's your plan?
With no pricing available yet for the AWD / MxDrive, no info on exterior / interior colors, no input from dealers on what to expect & when to expect more info, no confirmed dealer allocations, etc. what are my fellow AWD customers doing now?
Have you started talking with dealers? Anybody negotiate & put down a deposit in advance to get an early allocation? How much are you expecting to pay for AWD? When should we expect pricing & order guides? As you can probably tell I'm starting to get anxious. I would like a July/August build to take delivery in September/October if possible.

So what does it really mean to be on the list? No deposit? You'll get a call back once they start taking orders?

Yes. No deposit. In theory they'll give out allocation spots based on where you are on the list. Will it really happen like that? Who knows. Some long-term frequent buyers may be given priority. No cost to be added to the list.

Back in oct when I was debating how to bridge my dec 2020 lease end to an awd M3 my dealer told me they already had a few people lined up for awd models, some deposits (Boston area). That sealed the deal for me in ordering an m340 as a multi year bridge. Dealers obv don't have allocations yet but just guessing I assumed I wasn't going to get a build slot till nov/dec 21 at the earliest if there were a few ahead of me. Most are operating on the assumption that awd will be its own allocation separate from rwd cars. (Vs a dealer having an allocation that can be optioned either way) My opinion is you should expect the awd models to have no discernible difference in options or appearance from the rwd competition model. |

I appreciate the input
I called a couple of local dealers last week and the agents I spoke with don't know anything about the AWD models. All they know is that they will be available later this year. I had to tell them that production starts in July and give them more details They both took my contact details and emailed/texted me saying they will reach out once they have more info... The typical "we'll call you back" kind of thing that does not give me confidence that I'm talking to the right people. Maybe I should walk in and try to talk to the sales manager. Either way I would like to see Toronto Red & Portimao Blue up close. It's been 7+ years since I bought my F30 so I don't know anybody at those dealerships anymore.

Patiently waiting. I've talked to a professional car buyer so I can avoid dealing with a dealer, and am now just waiting until they are available. I'll put down a deposit just as soon as I am able. I'm looking to get an xDrive convertible, so I'm at the tail end of the availability curve. I'm hoping a miracle occurs and I can get it before fall but I'm not betting on it. |

Just ordered 2021 M4 Coupe competition model.
I specified that I am ordering the M xDrive version. Didn't see the option during option picking. But the sale guy said it will be there upon delivery. Target deliver date is in August. I don't think it cost extra for the option. Sale guy said if there is a delay for the M xDrive version. He is authorized to extend my current lease for up to 4 months. |

I'm not sure I understand how MxDrive will be a no cost option... Most of us are expecting $2k to $3k on top of the Competition price.

Misinformed for sure. That would be a very quick turnaround for an August delivery. Also July is the start of the new model year production so the AWD will be a 2022 model- and bound to cost more.

I'm on the list for a dealer, had to pay a deposit (refundable). Just waiting for the call at this point....Going to call them in Feb, asking if they're doing a March launch event to see one in person, hopefully test drive...

The M5C makes sense for many G80 potential buyers... I started looking into that option but the M5C is a bigger car than what I'm looking for, and probably not as fun around town. I also always want the latest & greatest so it would have to be a brand new LCI which makes it outside my price range. And to be honest I find the M5 design a little boring compared to the G80's polarizing design. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful car but there's something about an M3 with the wide arches and new aggressive design that speaks my language!

I put down a refundable $2500 deposit so I would be near the top of the “list” come July when it’s time to order. I really wish they launched the AWD version at the same time as the RWD, this wait is gonna be killer.

I'm also trying to figure out how much off MSRP I can negotiate. One CA said we will not lose your business on ~2% but I'm trying to shoot for ~5%. Appreciate everyone's input
