Simpson Hybrid Sport Head Restraint with Quick Release Tethers and D-Ring kit
Has anyone used this device? I am considering it to compliment my helmet after a significant impact recently.
works with a 3 point harness, and adds another layer of support in the event of a heavy impact. https://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/...n-hybrid-sport 90,000 dollar car..... 700.00 device and a 900 dollar helmet. comments? |

i am looking at getting this setup for this year's track season. wear a regular hans device with 6 point harness in m235iR and really like the security of it all. doesn't seem to be a real practical way to do a 5/6 point harness in g80 and my track specifically bans 4 point, even the one with the anti-submarine tech, but i am only going off a few youtube reviews which seem pretty positive.
won't make it out first track session until mid-june at the earliest, but was just thinking about ordering one up soon |

I've been using use the Hybrid S for 1.5 seasons. It's great, although have wrecked with it yet. Last season I used it with my 3 points and this season with my quick fit pro 4 point harness + fixed back race seat. It's pretty unobtrusive and I got used to it quickly.
Getting it on and off took some experimenting. The last thing you want is to be fumbling/rushing around when they stage your run group. My trick is to leave the tethers attached to the helmet and slip on the device like a kid does with a jacket. Hard to explain but I can post a video if you end up buying one. |

I know what you mean about slipping it on like a jacket while connected to the helmet.
I set it up and did some practice runs putting it on and that seems to be the way to go. Not as comfortable to wear as a HANS but don't really want to put a race seat and harnesses in a road car. |
