What about a part further down the drivetrain like a differential going bad… would the dealer look for a CDV delete and blame it on that? Could the CDV delete void $20k worth of downstream parts and labor..
I was initially planning to do this mod immediately but now a bit nervous. |

FWIW, I've done the cdv on many prior BMWs and on the G82 I've just gotten used to it and don't let it bother me any more. Either that, or I'm too lazy to do it.

All of those questions, for me (no lift, too cheap to pay for a shop) makes it a no. Quote:

No reason to buy new slave. Taking out the restrictions is super easy to do yourself. Bleeding the clutch is the annoying part. |

As mentioned above, you won't feel the difference in shifts at all while going through the break-in procedure. It's only during spirited driving and wanting to bang through gears that you feel it and it's the most frustrating thing as we bought manuals to enjoy rowing our own gears.
Here's my specific example of shifting 2-3 with the stock CDV, then the CDV delete. Ignore the added power from the piggyback, just focus on the shift speeds: CDV left intact: CDV deleted:

Look at how quickly 3rd gear is grabbed after the clutch is engaged in each video. There is a delay in the first video that is not there in the second video. It's subtle, but it's absolutely there.

not related to CDV specifically, but something i noticed after the CDV (probably because i had a midppe installed at same time), when you clutch in at idle, theres a distinct sound difference , its almost as if the valves open. I know revs move up slightly, but ive had many other BMW M Manauals and never noticed such a difference on clutch in vs neutral when idle. Anyone know why?

I noticed that as well. It must be the hydraulic fluids moving through the lines now that the CDV does not restrict it. Or maybe it has always been like that... maybe you noticed it because you got a midpipe installed?

I’ve read somewhere that ‘23 and ‘24 manuals don’t have the CDV. Can anyone confirm?

I'm going to be opening mine up and looking for it. Some say it does some say it doesn't. It's either hit and miss, which seems improbable, or people just didn't know exactly how to look for it.

Cool. Let me know what you find. I’d rather not open anything up unless needed.

Also, regarding a couple of posts above, my car also makes a distinct sound when engaging in 1st gear, like the valves open up. I noticed it on day 1, fully stock. |

I have driven manual cars for over 30 years. I can jump in any car and drive smoothly not even need to think. But whenever it come to BMW manual, I have to pay attention on how I shift between gears. After the CDV delete, shifting from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 make a noticeable different in term of how smooth and fast it can be. For shifting from 3 to 2, 2 to 1, I think there is a tiny bit of different too in term of smooth.
