Got to see the plant first hand during my ED in 2016. It's pretty cool, and I am sure it's probably even a bit more modern now.

You beat me to posting, interesting how the carbon fiber buckets are assembled and the human biomechanical support. Video is of the pre-LCI M3 with some G81 production and the Kith M4. Factory assembly is always changing each year. I thought that the G82 and G83 production is now at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, as years ago it was at Plant Regensburg (which I toured around 15 years ago).

Just to add insult to injury for those of us in the USA, it shows assembly of G81 Tourings!

Cool video, though!

Did I spot a touring body with sunroof? Or is that a standard 3 series chasis?

Not even that, it's definitely pre-2023 MY since they were installing iDrive 7 interiors. Interesting to see how old this footage is.

The G81 doesn't have a carbon roof, so it's either blank or sunroof

Unusual. These defects are usually identified and addressed at the VPC.

Where was your vehicle first processed upon arrival? Did the dealer address the issue?

No I addressed it with a screwdriver. German engineering.

The G81 only comes in blank, therefore was wondering if it will have a sunroof for facelift models (2025 models)

The door could have been damaged and repaired in transit. They check panel gaps with a special tool at the factory, so it's unlikely (though not impossible) that a car would make it out of QC with a severely misaligned door.

No damage. It was misaligned out not side to side. It's not huge but I noticed it.

You wouldn't even know that it was damaged in transit. They would replace and repaint it without disclosing the damage to you.

I followed it from production on the boat and the truck to the dealer. And I can spot a repaint from a mile away. It's fine. It's just poor fit and finish. Not uncommon on modern BMWs.
