Best method to shoot out from the lights

Hey,

What technics you are using when you are meeting with “a friend” at the lights and you need to “go” when green light is on.

Asking as Im not able to study every lights and time it well with LC.

Any ideas in which modes you see closest results to LC acceleration?

Just brake boost. Hard on brake, floor gas, lift foot off brake, laugh at friend as you pass!

Wouldn't hold it longer than 3 sec, but much easier than trying to time LC.

I don’t know if one would need to go to the level of timing launch control perfectly on lights. OP can just smack the throttle and smoke most cars on the road if that’s really their jam. More often than not, you’ll hit the next red light way to quickly, going way faster than you should be … it’s not even fun around the city. And with the number of cyclists there are around in Seattle, I wouldn’t even try that on narrow, public roads like we have here.

The pleasure is sometimes in just knowing that you can smoke most cars, you don’t have to excercise that belief to prove it lol.

Agree on brake boost if you are just a casual runner. Lights come down on 1/2 second intervals at most places.

You can play with your car in a big box parking lot early Sunday morning. Set up M2 to prepare LC so all you need to do is push the pedals. Get a time from pushing the gas till the flag comes up.

That gives you about 3 seconds to play with. Key is to have the 3 seconds bracket the green light so you can figure when you can release the brake without fouling or leaving to late.

Have no idea what the timing will be. When I was active I drove with a stick & released the clutch when I saw the last yellow start to color.

If nothing has changed & if you line up so you just trip the top staging lights then creep into the lower ones you can gain about a foot of forward movement (space between the staging light beam & the foul light beam) after the green comes on before you will foul.

If you can get away with coming in at a slight angle you can increase the insurance distance.

So all the comments of 'if you pay for it, you might as well use it". Please do it on a private/empty roads. Using launch control at lights is just asking for trouble. Horrible road conditions, unexpected cars pulling out of the liquor store...etc. at 60MPH you are traveling 88 feet per second. Average human reaction time is .3 seconds, that means you travel 30 feet before you change the steering wheel or start to move your foot to the break. The safest place is an organized drag strip, no secret light signals needed...Safe Travels.

Yeap. And with this I would propose we close this topic. Safety precautions are top priority, and yes… as much as I could argue, true is that good drivers are surrunded by “not good drivers” so us much as we can try best to stay safe … its not all in our hands.

Hope I did not offend anyone but still love mix of the comments above
