Carbon Buckets Regret?

Anyone got carbon buckets and regret it? I specced to them but am debating switching to regular ventilated seats.

If you haven't sat in them you really owe it to yourself to do so if at all possible.

I didn't choose them for my M3 due to various concerns and I did have the chance to sit in one briefly before I ordered but I didn't drive in it.

Did PCD and drove an M3 that did have the carbon buckets and it confirmed I made the right choice for me. Good luck. Choose wisely!

I have no regrets with my decision to get carbon buckets.

I recently injured my back and the firmness and support of the seat is fantastic. Getting out can be a bit challenging, but otherwise the experience is fantastic.

That being said, it also depends on your size and seating preferences. I’m 5ft11 around 240lbs and I don’t have any issues at all, but I would say that being considerably larger would probably not work.

FWIW, the ventilation function is hardly worth bothering with.

I sat in a car with the carbon seats, and they are great for holding you in and support, but tough to get in and out of. Your age, size and agility are all factors.

I’m getting worried. My carbon buckets are starting to get a bunch of folds in the leather in the seat and look worn down. Only 10k miles too

Post some pics, curious to see. I think like most my biggest concern is the the thigh bolsters.

The carbon seats are a must have if possible. I love that I’m glued to the seat.

I took delivery of an M3 with regular seats in October, then traded that for an M4 with buckets in November.

I really didn’t care for the standard seats in the M3, and found the bottom cushion sort of flimsy and not very supportive. The buckets are amazing, and once you get used to getting in and out it’s really not bad.

I would have regretted not getting them as the buckets + MT really take the car to the next level in terms of experience. I use a leather conditioner every 6 months, and have full tint (with UV blocking) on all windows including windshield. Without those, leather cracks down here in a matter a years.

I would have loved to get the buckets but I daily mine and run errands all the time and the ingress egress issue was a deal breaker for me. Also I’m in Austin and having ventilation is great.

Thanks for all the responses. Even though the majority of the people said they don’t regret it, I still decided against it and opted for the CF Exterior instead. I think overtime getting in and out would’ve really annoyed me dailying the car.

When I do buy a second car, I’ll probably get a set of Sportsters for this one custom made. There’s a company that does an amazing job.

This is my plan as well. I know the company you’re talking about, pretty amazing custom leather Sportsters, in just about any color.

I sat in CSL seats, I assume those are much more aggressive than Base G80 Buckets?

Attaching an example. They do any leather any color etc. I wanted Tartufo interior anyways which I couldn’t get with buckets. It is pricey however, works out to around 6000 shipped to the US last I inquired.
Not trying to advertise which is why I left the name out originally but since you asked.

I have these in my 1M and they are awesome. Took about 3-months from order to my doorstep, but well worth it.

They hug you in, but easier to get in and out, maybe a bit stiff for some, but make the 1M feel very special. IMHO

For what you’re getting, and including shipping, that seems like a pretty fair price. Assuming they’re using quality leather as well. I guess you just have to source G8x specific mounts?

From what I understand they’ll include everything you need and make sure they’re an exact fit. They also retain factory heating if you’d like and retain the electronic function. I’ve heard great reviews from many forum members such as the member above and Detailers Domain

Also agreed, the price is more than fair.
