My kid has a stanley that looks about 40oz. The bottom tapers down to a smaller size. That one fits the G80 cup holders and doesnt touch the dash.

I've heard that the cup size is limited with the carbon buckets due to the carbon fiber piece between your legs.
Oh.....wait. Do I have that right? |

Note that the cupholders in the base (manual) M3 are up front between the shifter and the dash, meaning knuckles may hit large cups/bottles when shifting, and very large cups/bottles may not fit at all.

3" width is pretty much your max. That is the diameter of the canteen in the thread above. Anything larger and the retractable cover to the cup holder area gets in the way. Here's a shot of how a typical Nalgene "fits" (it doesn't). Note that it sits right up against the cover (and doesn't fit in the actual cup).

40 oz Stanley fits, it’s tight but secure. I put it in the passenger side cupholder and turn the handle to face the passenger door which allows me to still be able to access the volume knob etc.
