During the trip to and from the event, and while there, the car got quite dirty even though I had given it a good wash earlier in the week. I am sure all BSM owners can understand, the dirt almost shines on BSM.

Instead of washing it again, I applied Speed Shine. Took me 20-25 mins with just two towels, no water or other. It is an amazing product, makes life so much easier I think. And the garage now also smells nicer.

In the first picture, you can see the wavy line between where I applied Speed Shine and the dirty lower portion. The second picture is after 25 mins

I will have to break out my Speed Shine & start using it more often then. Nice to hear such good things about using it on fresh new BSM paint. I always thought it streaked a touch. But maybe I was using too much.

Yes, using too much does create streaks or swirl marks. You just need to mist it, spread it with the first towel, then wipe it clean with the second towel. Then it is all shiny.

They have the ceramic version of it too. Once I apply ceramic coating onto the car, I will switch to that one.

There are moderate levels of swirl marks on the hood. They were there when I received the car. So, my next step is to take out the buffer and wax. Once I do that I will apply the ceramic coating.

I do not. I always wanted a black M3, so no regrets. However, I would caution that BSM looks superb when it is clean. 30+ years since I purchased my first car, and this is the only black one. I never washed cars before, at all. Always had it washed or detailed. Now with BSM, that would be way too expensive and inconvenient. So, I am learning to properly wash and detail it. A new hobby for me

No regrets at all. Like the previous poster mentioned, you'll need to up your car wash game though.

My previous car was a BSM F82. I did Ceramic Pro Gold on that and it looked amazing. Ceramic makes a HUGE difference in the level of effort to maintain the paint, and Ceramic Pro Gold is one of the best IMO.

With my BSM G82 I went a different route and went XPel Stealth PPF with XPel ceramic over that. The ceramic was only to help with washing the car.

I have the exact same cleaning protocol for both cars, except for one difference. With Ceramic Pro Gold, you go back in once a year for maintenance and you get a fresh coat of Ceramic Pro Sport to make it like new again. With the ceramic coating on the PPF about once a quarter I use Reload to refresh the ceramic coating and the hydrophobicity of the surface.

Had my Ceramic Pro gold for almost 1 year and love it. My car stays clean and easy to maintain. Can't wait for my yearly recoat also.

How long did the ppf take? I got my G80 in the shop and it’s been 6 weeks and counting. Mostly because the bumpers have been tough to get perfect.

6 weeks?!?! If I took it to a shop and they said it would be more than a week, I''d find another place.

Wow! 6 weeks is way to long in my opinion. The dealer cracked the front lip on delivery so I had to take it to get replaced then bring it back to the PPF shop, so this caused a little delay. It took about 2 weeks to get mine done and they took off all the emblems, door handles, spoiler, fender air breathers, and tail lights to do the job. This is my 3rd car getting PPF’d and it’s hands down the best. I had to ask them if they really PPF’d my car 😂.

6 weeks sounds like they may have over booked appointments but obviously, just an opinion. 😊

Yeah it was over booking. It’s also a team a 3 and only 1 of them is part time and out of the 3 only 1 of them is really skilled in PPF. The main issue he was having was that he wasn’t doing bulk install & I asked not to remove anything unless it was absolutely necessary. I haven’t been upset because the communication has been excellent. First is that the batch of PPf was recalled so he had get a new shipment. Then the precuts where slightly off and adjusting them due to me having the carbon pack. Mainly complained about how difficult the bumpers are. He did give me a 25% discount so I got 2k back which made me feel a little better lol

Ah ok, that explains the delay. As long as it’s quality work, they are transparent on the time it will take, and you are willing to wait (discount is also a good reason &#128522, sounds reasonable. I know it can’t be easy for you though waiting the 6 weeks.

I’m curious, do you know what film they are using? I have STEK and love it. Really clear and has a built in ceramic coat. I got a discount for bundling ceramic coated wheels, full PPF, and window tint but no where near 25%! That’s awesome!

My PPF show also mentioned how hard it was to do the carbon package also but I liked they told me in advance what the could and couldn’t do when giving me a quote. I’ve had some companies make all the promises, I put a deposit and when picking up the car, I hear all these things they couldn’t do.

Ahh ok that makes sense, so my guy wasn’t just saying that lol. They do great quality work that I can’t complain.

The film they use was also the reason why I went to him since every other shop in my area uses Xpel. They use Stek & Llumar I choose Llumar valor due to the warrany & it seemed to perform better from the test I saw. However they tinted my car with Stek nano ceramic flim.

They also ceramic coated the glass, wheels and interior. Also smoked out my taillights & installed my spacers lol. They did a lot but the wait has brutal.
