Ive have 2 E92 M3's. 1 F10 M5, 1 F82 M4, 1 F80 M3, and two G80 M3's one RWD and now an X drive variant. The X drive is the best handling M3 Ive ever owned. But handling wise the 911 is king to me.
Sorry...late to the party, but if you don't mind I have a couple of questions about the 992 S. You've described the sporty driving dynamics well but my question is more about daily comfort when not hooning. Can you compare the 992 to the G8x in terms of daily suspension comfort, road/tire noise, etc.

I hardly ever ran in comfort. But all the 911's I owned had more road noise than the G80 M3 from what I remember. The 992 was much better than the 991.2's I had. But you still hear it.

Porsche 18 ways are the most comfortable seat I've ever owned. They blow the M3 standard seats out of the water IMO. Long distance drives where much more comfortable in the 911 seat wise. But I find the M3 to be a much better daily driver. I spent 4/5 yrs in 4 different 911's back to back. I got tired of pulling myself in and out of the super low seats. Plus I was ready for some additional room.

While I loved my 911's from a drivers car standpoint. I got tired of daily driving them after a while. I kind of which I waited and just bought a Turbo S or GT3 and made it a weekend car. Because daily driving them was awesome, but also a pain in the ass at times.

Im not BigWorm LOL but I have a 992 GTS with PDCC which can make it very taut yet forgiving and thats because of the damper/chassis quality that Porsche has. Porsche engineering just has that magic combo build where they create amazing drivers that can be daily driven.

I have a G80X as well and to me, daily non WOT or non rip driving- the Porsche is really quite comfortable. I do "feel" more road and tire noise but thats also due to wider rear tires, sitting closer to the floor, and less sound deadening in the GTS. But its nowhere near uncomfortable but just a more sporty feel while the M3 is a bit more luxurious with its insulated guts.

The G80X is more lux vs sport in comparo to the 992 GTS but both cross over well into the other realm.

Porsche is magic in terms of dampers. My 718 GT4 actually felt more comfortable than M3C in comfort and even sport mode.

I only put the M3 in Sport Plus on smooth roads (lacking here in Dallas), but the GT4 I usually just left it in Sport.

Mind me asking why you chose the GT4 over the GTS 4.0?

Because it's a GT4. If you get the GTS at least in cayman form, you'll always be longing for the GT4. Plus it's not that harsh on public roads. If it is, just get the DSC (I didn't need it).

Plus my first Porsche was the 2.5L 718 GTS.

I actually found my 718 GT4 to be just as comfortable as my G80 M3, if not more so. Their ability to tune suspension is still second to none IMO...the magnaride shocks on the Fords and Chevys is much closer to Porsche than BMW is, but the G80 M3 has made good strides in that area.

GT4 gives you quite a good bit better package while not having to sacrifice much over the GTS except a few small items like LCA, etc.
