Bimmerpost version for Porsche forum?

What's a good Porsche forum? Basically what's the bimmerpost equivalent for Porsche? Been thinking about maybe getting gt3 lately so wanted to check out the forums, but renlist and 6speed kinda suck from a quick look around.

Rennlist. Why do you say it sucks?

GT3 forum tends to be full of people talking about ADM unfortunately but wade through the BS and you can find some good discussions, and people who actually use their cars.

IRL, we have a bunch of GT3 owners in the Houston area. 90% of them love their car as a driver, and push it hard. As in all areas of life, the forums are filled with exaggerated characters and not representative of most normal people.

Many Rennlist GT owners like to peackock their wealth, complain about ADM's that they ultimately pay anyway, and talk excessively about spec. It has driven the 997 era GT owners off the forum, although some of them are still there and complain from time to time about the "new money".

The rest of Rennlist is generally pretty good. Usually the older the car, the more dedicated the forum goer. And since there are plenty of older cars still around, the 991 and older forums tend to be populated by good people.

There really aren't any good Porsche forums. Rennlists format sucks and there is no app. Nothing is on the level of bimmerpost and for that reason many 911 owners frequent bimmerpost as it is simply a better online car community.

Rennlist... I'm still active on there. Owned several Porsches including 997.2 Turbo S, 991.2 GT3 stick car, and last was an 991.2 TTS... All epic cars, and great group of guys on there once you start getting to know some of them.

To the poster above, yes we went on a drive to 3 sisters with the Houston group of GT3 guys... Killer drive and overall a great group of CAR guys. On that drive we had 2 F80's and those guys were welcomed with open arms. I'd call the GT3 guys "eccentric" not weird.

Mostly engineering types, who love to work on their cars, which I respect vs the I paid this guy to do this amazing thing to my car. Just my opinion, but Rennlist is good if you positively engage with people. Hope this helps.

Haha, are you in Hill Country Region? I'm in LSR....I know we get together with you guys every now and then. And yes, the Porsche community in Texas is strong and very down to earth. On our events we have brand new GT3's mixing it up with base Boxsters and all are welcome!

So yes, Rennlist is a good forum...just watch out for the new GT3 guys and sort through the ADM discussions. There are SOME drivers there, but a lot of flippers and "spec guys".

Rennlist. Sure, the discussions have evolved as the buyers have evolved. But still lots of good interactions with car enthusiasts. Very high percentage of current or previous BMW owners. But very little BMW talk….

The search on Rennlist is not good. I just use Google to search their site. Site: Rennlist.com when I need to find something.

BMW sells about 10 BMW units for each unit Porsche sells the number of people posting on Rennlist is much smaller along with was less threads.

The other thing I have noticed over the last year is that there are a good number of self-important assholes who seem to enjoy personal attacks toward one another rather than simply answering or relaying knowledge. Granted that happens here on Bimmerpost but it just seems like there is far less of that nonsense on Bimmerpost.

Nick Murray has mentioned more than a few times that buying a Porsche will clear up any confusion that you are an asshole.

I'm actually in the D/FW region... We just drove with guys from all across Texas on a regular basis when we had our GT3. Always had a positive experience with any of those meet and drives. But to make another point, I'm not much of a Cars and Coffee kinda guy. My impression of those crowds are the arrogant douche types. I'd rather drive my cars than stand around and talk about them to a can you top this group.

Depends on the C&C group

In general, and with "meets", yeah, I see a lot of that. Our PCA C&C and the 1-2 Houston BMWCCA ones I attended were pretty chill. Most guys (and some ladies believe it or not) are very chill, no peacocking, just shooting the crap with like-minded individuals. Most of the time it's not about "look what I've got" it's more about "hey, good to see you again, how's your family, what have you been doing".

Although a few months ago, one of the guys was trying to mansplain to a woman about track driving and why certain cars and options were no good for the track. It was cringey enough but for the fact that she has a Shark Blue GT4 she regularly tracks.

I think it depends on which Rennlist sub forum you’re on? The 997 (GT3 and non) crowd is generally super helpful, and lots of great technical support.

Funny thing...Corevette guys on their forums ask who is talking about their cars, Porsche guys asking the same thing, and apparently BMW guys are too asking the very same thing. Reality is, most all of us are car guys/gals, just more "brand" oriented than our counterparts. I've owned over 25 cars in the past 10 years, and loved everyone of them for one reason or another, but man I can't ever get past the brand arrogance between one car to the other. I think at the end of the day , we all love cars, just express it in different ways based on which brand is currently in OUR garage.

MBz people all generally all disappointed with the 4cylinder. lol
they got happy when they thought the v8 was coming back, but MBz seems to
be waffling about it still.

I agree with the poster that says they have to google search to find appropriate topics on gt3s. that part sucks. and yea, half the people are concerned about NOT driving their cars to 'preserve' the value while the other half is making fun of them. but it is still the best resource. I got the Porsche technical manual from another r'lister for my car and that isn't easy to come by.

Rennlist seems to be like that too. At least as far as forums for current models are concerned. 90% of posts are about getting an allocation, how many years you have to wait for an allocation, how much ADM you have to pay for an allocation, how many d!cks you have to suck to get an allocation...you get the idea.

With the newer 911 forums yes. Because sadly that is the state of affairs in the Porsche world.

In the forums for cars no longer in production, or without that nonsense (like the SUV's and the Taycan) the tone is different. Trust me, only the GT3 owners are really bragging about beating the ADM / waitlist game. Pretty much everyone else is universally aligned against it.

And the funny part is that many of them have paid ADMs in some way or the other and don't even realize it. 8k ppf? sure. Bought couple Macans off the lot? sure. $500 oil change, yep.

This is true. I find most of the new GT discussion is about ADM or spec (aka deviated stitching) and lots of flippers and general guys who are not interested in the cars. The latter IMO are ruining the brand and Porsche generally doesn’t seem to care much which is just as bad.
