I really wanted the display key when I had my F10 without one and was filled with envy for those who did. I got one by default with the X7 and proceeded to get very excited. I used it exclusively for the first week and the functionality included the ability to (very slowly) raise and lower the suspension. It also shows you some data points and you can schedule the preconditioning aircon. However, after you get fed up with the sheer size of it (is that a BMW display key in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me) I went back to the standard key. When I tried to go back to the display key later I realised that I needed to log in to my profile on the car which is a PITA. It seems like you cant have your profile tied to more than one physical key. So in summary:

- It looks cool until you have it - then the novelty factor wears off
- Your friends will think its amazing and be envious of you :-)
- It doesn't add any functionality that the MYBMW App doesn't already have
- It doesn't drive the car out of the parking space autonomously unless you have a 7 series (AFAIK)
- Charging is a pain - you can place it on the wireless charging pad in the car (if you have one). At home I place it on a charging mat and its like cracking a safe to find the right position to make it charge. You can open the little side door and plug it in - which is very fiddly and the door falls off after a while

I now have 2 of them and set the up for my wife and she leaves it in her handbag…

I would only have it as a no cost option.

There are lots of other threads out there on this - have yet to see one where anyone makes a compelling case for it…

I'll have to check out the other threads on it. But it works with the G8X cars, as well?

Yep. My G80 M4 came with it.

Didn't do anything to the M3 since it still hasn't been built yet but I did receive all of my goodies from IND-Distribution today!

As usual each item came packed with care and I now have enough bubble wrap to cover my entire house!

The Twilight Purple pieces came out exceptionally well and I can't wait to get the car later this year.

Only thing not pictured is the M Performance CF side blades as they were just too big.

Yeah, they just clip on and off. Use some trim removal tools and it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Wow, glad I was able to get them! It's a bummer they were so difficult to produce though. Really appreciate all the effort that went into doing them as they look phenomenal!

I was hit by a rock driving and my windshield is badly cracked on the right side.

Good news is there is not a bad delay in the windshield which obviously needs HUD + sensors for lane keep assist.

I was told the OEM windshield will arrive in 2-3 days. I was really worried it would be weeks with all of the shortages.

So if you crack your windshield, rest assured!

Had to replace mine 2 weeks ago. Crack was 2 feet long and growing. 5 days from the time I placed the call to install. I was amazed...I thought I would have to wait forever.
