XHP on stock car

Hey guys,

I have a stock car right now with front mount intakes. I've owned a ton of performance cars in the past, and have a few supercars but I daily the G80. I just got the break in service done, so now that I have had the chance to beat on the car I realized the transmission kinds sucks.
The upshifts at redline absolutely kill the momentum of the car accelerating.
Would running xhp stage 3 on a stock car ruin the daily comforts of this car or enhance them? Any feedback with xhp is appreciated!

Thanks

I run the OEM CS tune and it’s so much better than stock, whilst still being super comfortable in S1/2. The general consensus seems to be that you only need XHP when upping the power quite significantly

Never tried XHP on stock car. Unless you are going to tune the ECU, I don’t think it would be worth it.

I would try it in your case. Agreed, the stock tuning in this car is too comfort-oriented. Running xhp stage 3, in d3/s3, definitely makes the car less smooth, but much more fun and engaging as well. S2/d2 are pretty chill and comfortable. If you don't like it, you can always revert to stock.

Stock, I found the g80 to be a tad underpowered, and the zf a bit boring. Racechip and xhp transform the car into something more. Of course, you can go the tuning/femto route, etc, but I'm not going to keep this one long enough to do all of that. And my car, being rwd, 600bhp and xhp, kinda feels great.

I was running it on a stock car for a few thousand miles and it made the car much more enjoyable personally.

How does it feel in D2 just cruising around? Nothing crazy. I usually drive in sport + D2 so it holds the shifts a little longer.
I don’t plan on tuning the car, I’d like to keep the engine warranty since it’s a daily.

For a stock engine you’re probably better with the CS trans flash from our man kubax86.

If you were tuning for high HP then XHP would be the choice, but there’s a lot to tune and tweak, unless you just pick their Stage2 map. XHP is a little pricey when you add up both licenses (base plus map pack).

I did the CS flash with him in the meantime. I don’t think the shifts are as fast as I’d like them to be, however.

Was the CS flash very recent? It takes a week to relearn adaptations. After that mine was pretty snappy. If you’re already past that point then using XHP to reduce your torque reduction, which is the power pause between shifts.

No, it’s only been 2 days. But the up shifts in S3 throw the balance off, it doesn’t just quickly shift into the next gear like a dual clutch. Almost like the F8x in S3. Definitely way better than stock though.

The problem with the CS flash tune is you need someone to do it for you. If for someone reason your car reverts back to stock, well you need that person again. Often times another charge to reprogram and possibly a wait time.

XHP you buy the maps and they are yours for good. You'll find some setting you'll like, I just started messing with mine, but honestly the stock settings for all 3 stages are good on their own.

Between the two, although both are good, I prefer XHP. You can customize, you have plenty of room to grow, and you don't have to rely on anyone to reprogram the car if something happens.

Yeah I was worried about this. Worried about the transmission warranty also with xHP. I don’t think there’s a flash counter on the TCU but 🤷‍♂️
