Coilovers vs Lowering Springs

Both KW and H&R have lowering springs kits for the g82.

However, how do the lowering kits differ from a full blown Coilover kit (I would probably do the PSS9s or the KW Variant 3s)

Of course you can adjust rebound with the PSS9s or the KWs which is nice. But is it going to perform better? ie: More tuned in rebound settings?

I'd get coilovers if the car is on the track on regular basis. For daily drivers, I recommend adjustable springs like the HAS kit. It's more than enough.

I have AST springs on my car now, supposedly some of the "best riding"... however they are terrible compared to coilovers, and I will swap them out as soon as something releases.

I came from a car that had AST coilovers then Nitrons. The springs are terrible in comparison. I may honestly try out the KW HAS if I can find spring rate info, but I think it may take a full coilover to make it ride really nice.

Apples to Oranges, I don't think you're ever going to be happy if you're trying to compare springs to full coilover systems.

Springs and adjustable spring kits (HAS) are intended to do nothing else but lower the car at a lower cost-entry point than a full coilover system as most street-only cars don't need this. Those expecting coilover performance will have to wait for coilovers to hit the market, starting with the KW V4s that are among the first to hit the market. Also note that G8x adjustable camber plates haven't been released yet.

No Nitrons for G8x yet, but we can import them when they're ready. AST/Moton, MCS, JRZ and Ohlins will probably have their solutions ready before then. The pandemic's screwed up a lot of parts and R&D as a lot of manufacturers still haven't received their M3/M4s, and once they are ready - delays in raw materials will add even more delays to product being released. However, it's coming - just need to be patient.

Edit: Vorshlag just released 1st run camber plates today: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1880032

Nitron will have a development car for their R1 and R3 kits in december.
Coilovers should be ready to go early 2022.
