US spec 2022 M4 Competition XDrive OPF/GPF?

Hi everyone,
I have ordered a titanium exhaust system (middle pipe + muffler) for my incoming 2022 BMW M4 competition Xdrive US Spec. I was wondering if the 2022 models in the US have an OPF/GPD in them. I have emailed my SA and he said he doesn't know the information about this. He said "The regional BMW engineer said the only way to know is to bring it here to clarify. It may or may not. It will be federally mandated in the future but some have them some do not."

So it seems like they won't have that information since I had the first allocation for the Xdrive at their dealership. However, the exhaust manufacture has asked me for this information and I couldn't find any reliable answers online. I would really appreciate it if owners who already took delivery of the 2022 G82 model could help me answer these questions. It would be a great help if anyone could post some pictures of the exhaust system. Thank you guys so much.

There is no OPF/GPF on U.S. cars.

Is your 2022 model? I am not sure if there is any difference. I guess 2021 and 2022 are the same, but I just want to confirm since there is no return once I tell them to ship.

Nice. I am going to tell the manufacture to start shipping the exhaust to me. It might arrive before my car can get out of the VPC with that RAM stop sale. God knows how long the RAM stop sale takes.

OPFs will be federally mandated in the future? Can anyone confirm?

Yes, I believe they will be mandated in the future. The SA's response seems to say that some cars might already have them. Canada is also implementing more policies to have OPFs in new cars.

Jesus.... you guys have GPFs on your vehicles? (I never knew this was a thing, I've always heard of DPFs etc. etc.) Only thing here are DPFs on any car in the states. Diesel only. That must be a mighty expensive stock exhaust system on the M3s there.

So, as I was daydreaming of buying the $5K Remus exhaust system, there were two options, one with GPF and one without GPF.

I have a U.S. spec M4CxD, so I selected the one without the GPF, based on the information above.

Now, what in the world is GPF & OPF stand for?

Gasoline particulate filters (GPF) and Otto Particulate Filter. I think they are the same thing.

Opf,, Gpf, PPF same thing. Both are particulate filters for Otto/petrol/gasoline cars. These are tumours to make cars Euro 6 compliant and should be excised as soon as possible. As someone else said, it's like living with a towel down your throat. But lucky you, you don't have it in your US spec car.

Otto refers to 'Otto-Cycle', as most of the gasoline car engines out there are 4-stroke engine principle invented by a German guy called Nicolaus Otto. That's why in Germany people usually call it 'OPF'. (I think they called 4-stroke engine 'Otto-engine' as well)

Another commonly used engine principle design is 'Atkinson-Cycle', usually found in Hybrid cars.
