Big guys (250-300 pounds) and bucket seats?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Who has them that's a big guy.

The seats looks incredible but looks so uncomfortable for the big dudes.

Thinking of selling my f83 and picking up a g80 but having second thoughts on the bucket seats (for the comfort) looks wise the buckets are the best looking seats in the market.

I don't think they will be comfortable for anyone over low 200s unless that's "dense mass". Tall and relatively fit could work. I found them very comfortable for my test drive, but I'm ~80kg so definitely not in your "big guy" range. I haven't been able to find official recommendations for user "size".

They aren't really designed for really big people, based on what I've read on the forums.

It's not just the comfort, but getting in and out is significantly more difficult with the buckets compared to base seats.

I'm 5'10" and 200 and was extremely uncomfortable when I sat in them in the dealer - couldn't pay me to get them.

Also go try them on! Maybe it will be different!

I'm 5'10 and weigh 170 and I find them perfectly snug. It really all depends on how your weight is distributed though. You could weigh 170 pounds but be a gym rat with a very wide upper back and you will hate these seats.

Yeah, don't even think about getting these seats without some definitive seat time yourself, not at your size. Just take the safe route and get the regular buckets.

But I agree, they look amazing.

I'm 6'2, 245 and I tried them out at the dealer. They were not comfortable for me. I ordered the regular seats. They look awesome, but just not made for someone my size.

I would draw the line at 6' 200lbs. I could not see myself sitting there in long commutes or going in and out. Now, if they were interchangeable, like for track days, then heck yeah. They keep you in place around tight corners.

Bucket Seat Owner here....I would say absolutely not.

Im 6' and about 190, and they are just snug enough that I can fit, but I wouldnt want to take a 3 hour road trip.

The limit is definitely somewhere around 190-210lbs depending on your build in my opinion. I dont think height is as much of an issue, but definitely weight and build.

I agree. I'm 6'3" and 186lbs. I found them to be very comfortable when I sat in them at the dealer. Went ahead and ordered them. Will take delivery sometime this month.

as as average to small sized person (5'8" / 155lbs) not heavy set or thin they're perfect. I can't imagine someone significantly larger being comfortable in them at all.

I'm 5'11" 200lbs, and think they're incredibly comfortable for a bucket seat. I see people of the same size giving two completely different opinions on the seats, so really you just have to try them yourself to be certain

I'm in a debate whether or not to add this to my build. About once a month I do 1-day 6-8hr roundtrip drives -- will I hate myself in bucket seats? Otherwise 95% of the time, my total daily commute is about 1hr

I think the main issue with the buckets on long drives is you can't really adjust your seating position too much if your butt starts to get tired or something like that. I imagine most people would opt for the standard seats in your situation, including myself probably.

The buckets obviously look cooler, but I got them because they make the drive much more engaging. You're one with the car in the buckets and can feel the car communicating to your body much more clearly. However, if your car is going to be more of a grand tourer on the highway, then comfort is probably a little more important

I had buckets a couple of times, and as the guy says above, after about 3 hours your ass goes numb and you're very stiff when you get out of the car. I think with the comfort seats your going to be less tired after a 6/7 hour drive

Depends on your build and comfort level but I'd be worried that those long drives will become a little tiresome.

Personally I kinda wish I had the buckets since I don't do a lot of daily driving or long drives, but the comfort seats are very nice too and I get huge compliments on them also.

Get the regular seats and add the carbon fiber headrest backs to spiff them up. I couldn't imagine buckets for long drives.

They're actually rather comfortable for longer drives. Sat in them for 4 hours with no complaints. I wasn't sore or anything when I got out.
