What's a Moose test? Looks like M4 did poorly…

I'm not familiar with the Moose test, but result seems underwhelming. At least slalom looked good.

Dodge the Moose in the road

aka lane toss.
The final fail was lame, the driver was not aware of the cone position and knicked it.

I think this is just more meaningless data, and doesnt really serve a lot of purpose as to the driving experience.

I think the test (in this case) was a bit bogus, as for sure they did it on cold tires.

Funny because I keep saying the z4 m40i takes violent turns perfectly and stays planted at speeds my m2 comp could dream of, along with the f80/f82 and g80 I've driven and ppl laugh.

The z4 passes the Moose Test flawlessly. The g80/2 are LONG BOATS. You can only cover a turd with perfume but it's still a turd.

M owners are such fan boys. I've had m cars too. The g80 just wasn't worth the measly $5-15k over the z4. I'm telling you it has higher lateral g than the m3/4 and handles better and stays planted better. For example in this test ppl are claiming the guy ran cup 2s and it was cold. Doesn't matter. Put any tire and warm it up above 110 degrees Fahrenheit and it will still fail this test. The z4 doesn't. Now are there any tracks with turns like this? Of course not. But, in a short track with challenging corners the z4 and m3/4 would be neck and neck despite the z4 having 125 less hp. But realistically mine only has 50hp less and has 500lb ft of torque so.. Here’s a short track with challenging corners: Hockenheim GP via Sport Auto, same driver

Z4 M40i — 1:59:50 on MPSS
M4 XDrive — 1:53:90 on PS4S
718 GT4 — 1:55:00 on Cup2

I do not deny that the M4 is faster. Especially x drive. What Im saying all the time the M4 comp gains really comes from the faster acceleration and extra hp. Lets look at it this way. The z4 in Europe only has around 335whp and 369ft lb of torque. its 6 seconds slower because it literally has over 175hp less and over 120ft lb of torque less than the m4. all im saying is we match hp numbers with the m3/4 and acceleration, maybe throw in x drive so it gets out of corners faster, and we will have equal or better numbers for the z4.

lets look at the a91 supra in the us with 382hp. Throttle House on youtube got .5 seconds faster than the m2 comp on their track, and as far as ive driven both cars, both supra and z4 drive the same and get near exact times.

Why do people get M3/4? Because you want practicality and a longer car with 4 seats. If convertibles were popular and there was a z4m, it would beat the m3/4 for sure if it had the same hp and torque

I don’t really want to get involved in this but it feels like you are trying to prove to the entire G8X forum that your Z4 is faster.

I don’t want to speak for everyone but I certainly do not care about how fast your Z4 is in the slightest. I’m glad you got a car you enjoy and is good at the moose test. You win.

I'm really close to getting a Z4 ... for my wife (no joke ). I've tried it back to back against my G82, and it's no contest ... it's on a different class, just like the Supra. Doesn't mean they're bad, far from it, but they're not on the same level.

I just said the z4 handles better becsuse it has to. Shorter heigbt length and wheelbase and it's wide. Yall getting so upset your crying like babies because you bought one m4 and have to defend it.

Yea the m4 is nice. The only thing I said is the z4 handles better that's it. Didn't say it was faster or even faster around a track than an m4.

Ok dude stop crying the m4 is king. Thays why I'm getting a new 7 series as a family car instead I'm not "good enough" to join your "prestigious" club.

But no really the m4 was always too big anyway even the f80. Thays why I had a f87, and now, the g29? Why? I follow where the LEAST weight and smallest size is. To suggest that a smaller car that weighs less can handle better is blasphemy I suppose. But I already expected these responses hehe.

Dude you test drove a z4 and then your m4 on the street and just went in a straight line and say it's no contest? And I'm the fan boy. Take it on thr track that's all I've ever stated. Never said it was "faster in a straight line". Of course it is it has 510hp that's underrated. Now tune a far less heavier z4 to 510hp and add an x drive and we'll see who wins. This isn't even debatable. The m4 weighs nearly 4000lbs. No thanks. Heck even the z4 weighs too much for me.

You guys forget the M2 comp was lauded by critics as the best m car ever including on the track. Well, I've tracked both and the z4 always gets better lap times. Always. And no its not that I "got better", I was pushing each car to the max it can handle and explain how the z4 beats a full m car on the track. Even bmw said the z4 beat the m2 comp on the nurburgring on their own tests. Yall can't. I just want a light weight small, 2 seat, (possibly open air)track car. And that's why my next car is a z06

No, a fanvoy is someone who quickly gets offended when criticized, and or is someone who bought an m3/4 DESPITE the same people complaining for nearly 10 years about how "the m3/4 are too big, it weighs too much", and now, all said the new grille design looked awful and that the f80/2 looked better, and yet still buys the m3/4. I was talking about an equal comparison where I also have 505hp and would fare better on track against an m4. Also, what are you smoking? The Z4 is pure rwd no xdrive is even offered for it. But xdrive is something the m3/4 has enabling even the worst drivers to always get off the line worry free with no wheelspin.
Also, if you get 700hp to beat me? Doesn't that just prove you win due to hp alone lol? Ok then I'll throw in pure turbos and similar suspension to yours so we're equal. I'd still win.

Well I mean I had a M235i during all the years that car and driver rated it number 1 car in their top ten for years in a row. I didn't like the size and look of m3/4 back then, but when the m2 comp came out I got that. And bmw said the z4 beat the m2 comp on the nurburgring and I agree because my m2 comp was SLOWER on my local tracks vs the z4 even in stock.

See above. Got it for the wife mostly. I had a gt3 when I was in Dubai back in 2014 and years around that time, so now my next track car is a c8 prob or definitely z06.

Also, 600lbs lighter than a m4 is a huge difference don't you think? Wanna do a time trial on a track with me? I have a feeling you'd be ages behind 😉
