Never post your VIN in a public forum, do it in PM.

I am the person who reviews your DME data, flags your VIN and denies warranty. Funny thing is most customers read all types of mis information on the forums and everyone believes it but when someone with real actual information tries to give customers a kind heads up everyone thinks it’s fake. Don’t believe me I don’t care I’ll just keep flagging your VINs and denying your warranties.

I had planned on getting this car, and possibly modding it. But after this Main Bearing Shell recall, and being on other platforms, with motors that crankwalked, Im not sure if I want to take the chance. Especially with a $20,000+ short block. Or, do it, and when it does blow, there are half a dozen pages on Google, with articles, that say, "Confirmed The S58 will make over 1,000HP" Google is liable, RedBull is liable, Reddit is liable, YouTube is liable for hosting the videos, that tell me the motor is "confirmed capable"

No link. This was a bulletin posted by BMW to dealerships on 11/23.

Exert:

Beginning on November 23, 2021 the BMW Technical Support Team is pleased to announce the rollout of the “ISTA Aftermarket Engine Tuning Detection and Repair Authorization” process.

This process, recently published as service bulletin B00 04 21, describes the procedure to address vehicles which have been identified by ISTA Aftermarket Engine Tuning Detection.

Vehicles identified by ISTA Aftermarket Engine Tuning Detection will alert technicians via:

• Pop-up message in ISTA

• Fault code S 0777 in the fault memory list
Can you please post the full text of the SIB? They mention there is now a full process that is to be followed when a car is flagged. Let's see the details.

Also for those who keep saying "my tech knew the car was tuned and I never had any issues" that really doesn't mean anything anymore. If your boss (BMW NA in this case) now says "you must follow this process from now on" and a tech ignores it, their job is now on the line. I highly doubt that most techs will risk their livelihood to protect a tuned car.

Still, I would really like to see the full bulletin/text so that we can understand EXACTLY how this new process will affect us.

It’s interesting that the forum allows a person like you to come on here and threaten the members and then lets you stay. I mean your post is the most taboo post I would think you could actually put on this forum. Good grief. Some people get uptight about political statements but you just straight up told everyone here where they can shove it. Amazing.

What's the typical wait time for the ECU to be delivered overseas until you can drive your car again?
