Nice, the best I got was a 3.9 to 100kmph on a pvt road which has pretty decent traction.

I got a 4.06 on cold tires without using launch control in efficient engine mode

This thing is still kicking my ass. I can’t figure out the parameters the computer wants to allow launch control to activate. I do know the settings however sometimes it engages and sometimes it doesn’t. It doesn’t help I don’t have a good place to practice.

Are you pushing the pedal all the way to the floor past the kickdown button?

I believe so. The honest truth is I’ve only attempted this maybe four or five times with success three or four times and it’s always been a place I should not be doing it. LOL

I need to find a place where I can relax for an hour and try it many times. Once I do I’ll report back.

Haha. I’ve actually successfully launched it every time I’ve tried. For ease of access I’ve saved sports plus everything plus DSC off on M2. I just press that, push the brakes and then the accelerator all the way and launch.

Are you fulfilling all the pre-launch conditions though?

I have done the exact same thing. My M2 setting fulfills all the parameters. Then you just place it in second gear, hold the break floor it and wait for the launch light to come on. What I’m trying to tell you is it doesn’t always work. First off once you do it the first time there’s some sort of timer I guess for it to be available to you again and from my understanding there’s also temperature restrictions on the engine which are probably exceeded all the damn time because I live in Florida. It’s 94° where I live. My main questions are after you meet all the parameters i.e. S1, DSC off, 2nd gear and brake hold for launching it what other unknown restrictions can prevent or delay launch control availability? Here are my only two guesses.

1. Timer- A mandatory waiting period between notches? If there is one how long is the timer?
2. Engine temperature restrictions- I believe I read somewhere that there are temperature ranges the transmission and engine must be in before launch control it is able to be activated. If this is true what are they?

Please understand when it comes to me please don’t circle back to “you must have these basic settings engaged before launch control could be activated.” I know this. It really is quite simple. However I’m telling you that launch control availability has been limited for me having met these basic settings and I’m trying to figure out why. By the way if you hold the break and floor it without launch control activated you lay about 20 to 30 feet of rubber. Ask me how I know.

So you do need to drive a certain amount of time.. not sure exactly but I know when I tried back to back pulls it does not work. It did say in the manual (i think) that the engine does need to be warm for you to activate launch control.

For sure there is a min temp for it to be activated. Can't just jump in, pull out of your garage and launch.

Wow 3.7!!!!! Nice. I finally got under four seconds yesterday. I did three runs and got 3.92. I was pretty stoked. Now I see you do 3.7 and I feel bad again.

Thanks for that! Those are great, along with the 21 other videos that explain or educate us on other stuff (like the exhaust).

The rest have been too horrible to report. And the stupid thing won’t let you do it several times in a row. There’s some sort of timer before you can engage launch control again. Anybody know what criteria or time you have to meet before you can engage launch control again?

Or you could try and look at when the question was asked. That might be helpful. You’ll then notice that lots of people were asking back then. But I have to guess that that’s irrelevant to you because you enjoy just breaking peoples balls. No problem.

Can you please share a link to the full technical manual for the G8X? Thanks in advance!

I know NCG80M3 did a bunch of attempts for one of his videos maybe he can chime in on that, too

Ive brake boosted in my xDrive, and I can barely hold onto the wheel when it launches. It dumps you in the seat, hard.
