Are single use bolts typically difficult to thread by hand?

Just curious as I get started on my AST install.

I purchased 2 new bolts and nuts from the dealer for the rear shock/control arm mount since they are TTY/Single Use.

I started to thread the nut on the bolt just to make sure they fit and only got a thread or two on with my hands. I could thread more using a socket on each end, but it definitely wasn't smooth.

Is this a property of these types of fasteners and the means by which they get their larger "clamping force"?

Trying to learn here. Either that or I'm very weak or have the wrong combo of hardware.

Answer is yes. When I removed the factory ones they were nearly impossible to thread by hand as well.

It's because the nut is an all metal locking nut. If you look at the top of the nut, it is probably an oval shape or there is a punch in the top of the nut to distort the thread. It doesn't have anything to do with them being single use.

Nice, I'll have to look at that. Thanks.
