Anyone made the move or considering making the move from M4/M3 CS (not standard F8x) to G8x platform?

Curious to know why the move as I'm currently in a similar situation.

I never had the CS, but I almost got one and I drove the CS multiple times. Just my opinion, the CS is a beautiful car and a special car. The G82 is more of a grand tourer compared to the CS. Keep this in mind when contemplating which is best for your needs. If I had a low-mileage CS right now, I would not give it up.

I have a F80 CS with 23k miles that has been my daily (WFH so not much daily) and 6-8 track weekends per year and have a G80 Comp arriving late December / early January (fingers crossed).

For me, it's coming down to the financials of being able to sell the CS while the used car market is ridiculous and get a G80 for MSRP. The CS is the first car I've ever had that I didn't get the itch to get rid of it in year 2 - it's a great car.

I've driven the G80 at a M Track Day event @ COTA and was blown away at the handling and the ability to put down the 500+ HP. I really wanted to dislike the torque converter but it's really good. Maybe not as good as the DCT on track but way better at low speeds.

Being able to take my kids to school in the same car I drive on track is a major reason why the G80 will be my third M3. I'm the type of person who doesn't want a car (especially a M3) out of warranty so buying out my CS, paying tax on it (again), and getting an extended warranty to cover the power train puts the total cost pretty close to my G80.

I've gone back and forth on the "keep CS or get G80" since I placed the order in august. Now that it's close to having to make the call, I'm really leaning towards going with G80 but I think I could make a good argument on either side of this decision - they are both great cars.

I just ordered an M4 Comp X-Drive after wrestling wether or not to keep my M3 CS. It's a wonderful car, but it came down to a wanting to experience something new. The G8X seems just as or more capable on the track, which I try to do once or twice a month.

Keep in mind that the M4 Comp X-Drive managed a 7:30 ring time while the M3/4CS managed a 7:38. I'll never be that fast but it's nice to know that the G8X isn't a downgrade in terms of performance capability.

Same boat for me. The m3Cs has been an amazing experience. I've put on 17k miles on it since I took over the lease April this year. Crazy part is that it's weekends and track events mostly. I don't mean to or plan to drive it so much, but once it's warmed up, it just sucks you in the keep driving, keep pushing to the point that 3 hour joy rides to neighboring city for lunch becomes normal. I constantly miss exists, multiple times, not just once, I mean like 4-5 times usually when trying to go home. It's crazy. 20 min commute is usually 1-1.5 hours long. My wife constantly busts my balls that it's my mistress at this point. The most amazing thing is that I can have so much fun, drive to and track it, and then pick up and drive the kids anywhere we need to go.

I have a g80x schedule for production in December, but I'm worried that although it will be an amazing daily, will it still deliver the "I can't stop driving this thing" effect like the CS.

The crazy thing is that I think if you go stage 1 on the CS, it might be faster. For an old platform, I'm probably more impressed that it's only 8 seconds slower on a 7 min lap, than the g80 being 8 seconds faster

Not bagging on the CS at all, but remember it is much more developed for track driving than the G80 standard is. If/when they do a G80CS it will be even more of a monster.

The real answer is if you want a car that feels on edge all the time get the CS. If you want a car that can do double duty as a relaxed daily and then a very capable performance car get the G80. Doubtful that the G80 will ever be as engaging as the CS.

It is definitely the more track capable and focused platform, however, I found the CS to be even more comfortable and composed on the street than the Non-CS cars, and thus a much better daily driver. My hypothesis is that the F8X CS is essentially a F8X that was tweaked/suped up by the G8X team - so they likely maxed out the hardware capabilities of F8X's dampers with the increased focus on suspension compliance and rebound quality. For G8X they likely just picked up from where they left off with the CS but with the advantage of designing a new damping setup which allows for even greater tuning flexibility.

Yeah, I guess I was more interested in the real world feel and passing power "punch" compared to each other. I obviously know the #s…..but would like to know how those compare in seat of the pants feel.

Are you referencing the G80 vs M340i thread where you asked this? G80 has a good amount more top end punch than F80, and both G80 and F80 have more rolling punch than M340i (or any stock B58 powered car).

Just looking at raw performance numbers the G8x is significantly faster than the M4CS. If you consider that the Competition is comparatively a "lower" level trim than the CS, it's quite obvious that the G chassis has substantial improvements.

I remember reading that the 'ring was repaved in 2018/2019, which accounts for a significant decrease in time post-repave. So the 7:30 vs 7:42 isn't apples to apples since the CS was timed in 2017. That's not to say that G80 isn't faster because it clearly is, just not 12 seconds faster - probably 6 or 7 seconds. Still impressive

I have one on order with carbon seats. Was supposed to go into production 12/8 but got delayed to 2/6. The CS has been amazing so far and I'm also concerned if the g80 will be as fun to drive especially on the limit and the track. I put on 18k miles in 8.months on the CS because it's just so engaging to drive that I can't just go for a quick drive. 150 mile joy rides have become normal. I mean I'm going to the next state for salads at this point, lol

No. I couldn't get over the looks of the G80 so I went to the M5CS. It was the most logical progression in my circumstances.

i currently daily a m4cs and have a g80 xdrive on order. for me, my biggest gripe is the daily livability/comfort features missing on the car like comfort access and lack of storage. i'm just getting old and starting to value comfort over whatever the cs trim represents.
