Well deciding should now be easier for people. Carbon buckets delayed my order 3 Months. Was originally scheduled to go into production this week, now it's first week of February.

It'll be 7 months from order to getting my car now if there is no further delays

Ouch, that's painful. But the carbon buckets ended up being one of my favorite things about the car. I would say they're worth the wait.

This was likely already discussed in this thread, but do you guys think the look of the buckets are lost on the M4 since it you can't really see the beautiful carbon backs of the seats, compared to the M3 with the rear doors/glass. I still want them, but curious what G82 owners think.

Not at all! It's not a quality of the seat that is overlooked. The seats are beautiful for sure.

Yeah. I'm actually in the same boat. Was a week out, and now delayed to 2/6 date. 😭

Here’s a spin on the question. What if you purchased a pre-owned G82 Comp (as I did) that does not have the Carbon Bucket seats but want them?

Can the standard seat be replaced? If so, what is the level of effort and what is the estimated cost of labor and or seat?

You are better off selling and ordering a new car.

Seats from a wrecked car have been listed for $20k+ and brand new seats appear to be selling for $30k+.

Well, that answers that. I was just curious. The carbon seats are nice but not worth it to me. Thank you for the quick replies.

I am looking to get some custom Recaros with the CF back for the track days as an alternative.

Can you put a 4 point harness in there?

Replied in the regional chat… but can anyone in the NYC/NJ area allow me to try their carbon bucket seats?

You can also go to your local dealer and see if they have a car with the carbon bucket seats.

Am I crazy for not loving the comfort of the bucket seats? With how wide the car was + the side skirts & buckets, it was a pain for me to get in the seat versus causally sliding in.

I love the seats but for my future daily I'm hesitant…

The seats themselves were fine (minus the center carbon piece which was eh) but getting in and out is what I didn't love. I'd also feel like I messed up BIG time if I didn't order them, regardless of how much of a pain they are to get inside of.

Easier said than done. There's very low inventory of these cars around (like a handful in any large metro area), and the carbon seats are in a small minority of orders, so finding one just to sit in (let alone drive) is not easy. Trust me, I've been trying...

Just went on a 6 hour road trip with the buckets. They felt even more comfortable at the end of the ride than when I first took off. Yes, annoying to get in and out of but you will get used to it and it is worth it.

Thanks for explaining what I thought was the obvious issue and reason for my request.

In my experience it has been half and half. I had no problem finding cars with carbon fiber bucket seats here in So.Cal.

"Fitting" into the seat is not my main concern but more so transitioning in and out of the car over the bolsters, traffic and longer drives, and my .01% empathy for any lady passenger me in place??

I do plan on fully experiencing the AWD thrill hauling this thing into some bends, so my one and my only concern is - are the standard seats compromised with a lack of keeping one in place? Am I over thinking this? Any advise is greatly appreciated from those in standard seats! Thank you all!
Having test driven the current M4 with the carbon seats, "transitioning" is the only potential problem. Once you're in (or out), everything is fine. Might want to do some stretching exercises / Yoga to ensure you're sufficiently flexible to get in/out comfortably, and accept that the outer bolster is going to show wear quite quickly.
