Perhaps ordering the buckets in a desirable color isn't a bad idea if you think you could trade for standard + get cash on top of you didn't like them.

in America we call our larger women "Thicc". It seems to go over better than calling them large.

The first time she starts complaining about my seats, she is going to hear it. Thats in case i am feeling suicidal at the time.

Well, any car that has mirrors and a light in the sun visors, is good enough for her. She has no interest in any car related stuff. So the odds of her on these forums are slim, I think.

We were in the highlands in august and the weather was marvellous. Braking to a complete standstill in the middle of A82 and then blasting off with launch control as the missus hangs on to her life holding the seat bolster with her right hand (RHD car) and the door handle with her left and terror on her face. Priceless. Imagine that with Iron Maiden's "for the greater good of god" playing in the background. What an experience and what a car.

^ I wonder, why instead of the lump, they couldn't follow the Ferrari model and remove the center piece...

No interest in the with the ball buster seat. If they were going to the trouble of building a competition seat seems dumb they did not build a 5 belt seat with a slot for the submarine belt.

I thought I saw somewhere that the carbon piece comes off for the 5 point seat belt option. I think that's the whole purpose of having that piece in the middle.

I think it depends on what you plan to do with the car. If your tracking it, or have the opportunity to drive on routes which are "fun" (eg Scotland), the CFB make sense. Or, you might just love them.

For me, the car will be a daily driver, and my better half would find the CFB seats uncomfortable, not easy to even cross legs, etc. I'm not ordering CFB. They are very nice but I think I'd regret it.

Exactly, I stuck with the standard and got the ventilated seats just because it was $300 bucks.. -just entered production today, hoping for a quick one!!

You a-holes made me so anxious about buying the carbon seats site unseen I was panicking about ordering them. Thanks to a kind member of this forum I was able to try them out today.

I am by no means a skinny guy- 5'10 210 lbs. These seats were perfect. Super comfortable to sit in and the seating position is amazing. They look fantastic!
Getting in was easy- you just plop right into them.

Getting out wasn't hard either- you just need to pull yourself up and out. I was able to figure it out on my first try.

My opinion- If they "work" for you then get them. They make the experience so much better and they look amazing.

PS- my Previous g80 had the regular seats. Very comfortable and easy to get in and out of. I did a lot of spirited driving in them and never felt like I didn't have enough support.

I don't even notice anymore. I love the CF seats and would get them again 10/10 times.

This is going to be my own personal opinion after having sat in both standard and carbon bucket seats and then opting for the carbon bucket seats in my car. I should also mention I daily drive my car as well.

The standard seats while they are more comfortable, feel and look boring to me. The carbon buckets look way better imo and they also hug your whole body better. This is not to say that the standard seats will make the car inferior, they are very good seats if youre looking for something more comfortable, but I was looking for something that would make the car look and feel more special.

I should say that I am an average sized person so the carbon bucket seats fit me perfectly, this is going to be the main issue for some folks. Find a way to try them out first if you are on the fence about getting them or not. If you fit and feel comfortable I would say go for it.

Another issue is getting in and out for some people. After a few days I have found ways to make it much easier to get in and out of the car now so this is a non issue for me. The only other issue is the carbon piece of the middle that feels a bit strange at first but I dont even notice it after a few days later.

I love the CF seats and would definitely get them again.

This is the best advice about the carbon bucket seats before you order them.

Just picked up my M3 Competition with the bucket seats on Saturday. Drove 2 1/2 hours non stop and put over 300 miles on the car in about 48 hours. I find the seats are comfortable. However, due to the seats sitting so low, my right knee will begin fatiguing slightly but this happened in my mustang as well. Would definitely get them.

My thoughts on carbon seats from a "bigger guy" perspective.

Thanks to AndroidRobot for allowing me some seat time in his fantastic IOMG beast a few weekends ago, I got to sit in them for about 20-30 minutes. As he can tell you, I'm not a small dude (6'2", 225) and pretty large of frame including pretty big legs and wider pelvis. I typically do NOT fit in most "sport seats" or racing type buckets. The Ford Mustang Recaros are a no-go for me. I'm used to bucket seats in Porsches, which I fit in. These are similar and if anything have a deeper bolster on the lower squab.

Initially the "thigh support" nub quite literally rubbed me the wrong way. Then I got used to it. Over the 20-30 minutes I spent in the car I was surprisingly comfortable. No back issues whatsoever, and I'm sensitive to that (the loaner Macan I have this weekend has base seats with no lumbar and it's uncomfortable). I truly think that these seats can be comfortable for larger folks.

If you're willing to get in them. The opening between the seat and the wheel is not large, even with the wheel pushed in all the way. And if you don't want to ruin the leather on the bolster, it takes some contorting to get in and out. It's not bad, certainly no huge issue, but it's there. It's not a car you just pop in and start it up. You've got to do a little work.

A passenger might find this objectionable, but as a driver, you'll probably appreciate the extra theater. If you're in and out of the car a lot I can see it being a bit of a chore. But otherwise, they are ok and you probably do develop a bit of a technique with practice. The first time I got in a Taycan I couldn't believe how awkward it was but after 4-5 times, I don't notice it as much.

I use my car for business and have clients that come in and out a lot so for me, unfortunately, the carbon bucket seats were a non-starter.
