They literally have the car sitting on a dyno, but don't bother to rev it WOT and under load.

So we have the primary cats (red circle), secondary cats/OPFs (blue circle) and central resonator (green arrow), is it correct?

I'm surprised to see the primary cats so far from turbochargers.

This doesn't sound fully equal length to me but definitely closer than stock S55. I'm sure someone aftermarket will realize the fully equal system. I will say it has a great induction noise

In the Q/A it was asked and BMW confirmed they sound the same.

p.s.
I was convinced the button inside the cabin is just for the cabin reinforcement....they said it will go on quiet mode inside and outside. So no sound through speaker but also the valves closed...goddamnit BMW.... I hate this trend of reinforcing the sound through the speakers, who the hell asked for a stupid thing like that???

You can simply pull out the ASD plug. It literally takes 10 seconds to do.

Probably / hopefully, it'll be possible to code out ASD like on the F gen.

True. So I guess for catless DP pipe will have to be cut rather that plug and play like the S55.

Paying customers. In fact, enough paying customers that numerous brands do this now. You should hear Audi...theirs effectively replaces engine and exhaust sound because it's so prominent.

People demand isolation from road and wind noise. When you do that, you also shut out engine and exhaust noise. This is a way of having both...for better or worse.

I'll add this...the same is true for exterior noise. You have to comply with noise regulations (and desires) all around the world, which end up quieting down the exhaust. Combine that with the increase in sound deadening, and you're losing even more sound inside the cabin.

just to make you guys aware of the fact that there are no differences between the EU version complete exhaust system and the american one in the supplier code data bank. I guess that also the US version will have the OPF from what I read from it. It doesn't matter as they fixed the sound compared to the F80.

I wonder if the OPFs are actually in the red circle above then (with the primaries out of view).

Sounds like (pun intended) this setup will be better by replacing the secondary cats with individual resonators, and the OEM resonator with an X-pipe.

On the F97 (X3M) it's very easy. I can share a video.

It's the left side compartment in the trunk

Those two sound junkies are...characters!

It definitely sounds much better than a stock F80, subjectively of course!

In the Q&A they replied that the US version does not have the OPF.

I like it, the clean, hard metallic engine sound dominates and just a few deep exhaust notes/burbles on lift off isn’t distracting. Well done.
