My car was updated at the dealership…

My car was given some sort of update at the dealership and now it sounds different inside the cabin. The car now makes some sort of deep burble sound on up shifts when driving aggressively. The burbles and pops also aren't as noticeable now on downshifts (from inside the car at least). I don't know if anyone else has experienced this yet but it's very interesting.

Do you have ASD on or off? I coded mine off so I wonder if there will be any changes then. Did they ever tie the sports displays to the M1/M2 buttons?

The OTA update affected the "sound" the car makes on upshifts (comp model).

I'm still waiting for my G82, but can ASD still be disabled via bimmercode?

I can't confirm yet since mine hasn't been updated but I see no reason why it couldn't be. Even if the option is removed from Bimmercode, I'm sure it'll get updated so we can once again remove ASD.

If anything, sound is not as good as before upgrade. Very disappointed. BMW USA knows nothing about having the ability to tune the sound more after the s/w upgrade. Amazing.

Which version do you have now? OTA update was 7-2021, but someone else reported the dealership installed 11-2021.

I ended up getting my break in service pretty late in the game at roughly 1800 miles due to them being busy. After I got the car back, I do notice burbles when I let off the gas and the upshifts sound even more brutal. Also the car idle is louder when the flaps are open. I know a lot of the guys claim the break in service doesn't do anything but I'm definitely hearing a difference. In terms of power it feels the same.

I only got my OTA update notification last week, the first one ever for my car (04/2021 build, purchased in 05/2021).

What was the reason for the manual update to this version? What was written out on your work order?

Mine had no work order was delivered from the dealer last week with 11/2021.30.

Car had a RAM hold that was cleared at Brunswick VPC the week before. Salesman said when the car came in, day before Thanksgiving, they needed to have it coded & would take a few days, never mentioned what for but think it was the RAM

Me either. Reading the "release notes" for the OTA-SU it looks like it was just for automatics, improving the fart noise on upshifts.

I keep trying to get this update via my phone/car app. and after several minutes of "checking for updates" it comes back as "no update available".

Is there a different way to download this update and upload it to the car?

What software version does your car show is installed now?

I know the xDrive models have a bassy upshift noise, but I coded off ASD and I'm on 7/21. Does the upshift improvement make it have like audi up shift farts?

My car came with the July update. In Sports Plus, in the right rev range, there are burbles when you let off the gas which distinctly sound like they are coming from the actual exhaust, and sound a tiny bit louder with the windows down.

I think it's a little less in Sport and not at all in Comfort. I drive in Sports Plus all the time for the noise. ASD is left at the default On.

Upshifts have a whomphh noise, but I don't feel the crisp thuds that I used to in my older 435i GC. You can barely tell a shift happened except from rev noise, exhaust noise and the counter. There is no interruption in the torque on a shift.

I noticed my friend's X3M has the whomph noise when it shifts and I really didn't like it at all and was happy my car wasn't making that noise. I think I'll skip the upgrade.

Is that noise ASD or the actual engine? Can it be coded off?

That's the version being pushed out for the OTA updates.

Dealerships are installing the 11/2021 version.

So…as far as you updating your car, you're already on the current version.
