I had a Subaru Xtrek as a daily. $23k, 30 mpg, regular gas, awd, not low, could take it to the mountains to ski, hike, took it on dirt roads. I'm not one to use my lowered front bumper as a snow plow. Street parked.

I'm not doing any of that with my M3. After protecting the exterior/ interior I'm going the baby the crap out of it. To each his own.

It's all about perspective. Almost any car can be daily driven, it just depends on you, what you're willing to tolerate, and ultimately - your finances.

I am blessed and grateful to have been in a situation where I could daily drive a GT3. It never broke down nor had a hiccup (only routine maintenance), was a champion in the snow (picture above was after a small trip to Atlantic City during the winter driven on Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's), handled the occasional track day, and comfortably (relatively) lugged my wife around with me wherever we needed to go. The front axle lift worked better than any Ferrari/Lamborghini/McLaren that I've been in, so crappy roads/driveways weren't an issue either! Given that it was just my wife and I with no kids, groceries were put in the frunk (it's a lot bigger than you think!) and we literally never needed backseats. We've since introduced a baby girl into the world, hence the primary reason for selling the GT3, but it was absolutely a car that can be daily driven.

IMO, the only cars that can't be daily driven are cars that are prone to issues. I personally can't consider a car a "daily driver" if it can't be driven everyday with no worries about it breaking down. I had faith in Porsche's GT department and they delivered with the 991 GT3 in terms of reliability (the finger follower issue that plagued the 991.1 GT3's weren't that common and were mainly found on heavily tracked GT3's, mine was not tracked often).

So some of you guys find it difficult to daily drive a $100k car, and some of you guys think "I spent $100k on the car, I'm gonna use it" - and you're both right. No one should tell you how to use your car; you should do what feels right and what you want to do.

Except excessive negative camber and "stancing" it with those stupid wheels that stick out. That, you shouldn't do, and you should be flogged for doing so

LOL... appreciate your last sentence....

Never understood why people buy cars and than turn them into garage queens. Enjoy it.

The car is very adaptable, I was almost shocked at how good it is at soaking up the crappy roads we have. This is coming from a M550 driver. I have placed my order, hope to see the car in March or April.
Over the years I've 'dailyed' new E36, E46 and E90 M3s when I lived in a more moderate climate; and I've been fortunate enough to have a few E46 M3s which were garage queens for the periods when I was their custodian. They suit either role.

These cars are meant to be used on a regular basis. I actually felt less guilt (if you want to call it that) using a car the way it was engineered, than having a spotless garage queen that was babied. I competed in road rallies (including unpaved roads) in the E36 M3 without a second thought; it was a hoot. And I drove the E90 M3 at 10+ driving schools in one season. I consumed brake pads and track tires like nobody's business, but the car itself performed faultlessly.

The G82 I have coming will be my DD, through snowstorms, grocery runs, long-distance trips, and romps through the countryside. That's why our cars are such great all-rounders. They do it all because they can; they can because that's how they were designed.

I took delivery of my base G80 on November 19 and have been driving it on a daily basis, almost exclusively through city traffic.

Personally, I don't understand why anyone would think it can't be used as a daily. If you don't step on the gas a bit harder, you don't even realize what a monster of a car it is. One of the things I love about it is that it does a great job of transforming from a quiet daily to a sports car in a split second.

As I see it, the only issue is the high gas consumption.

The M3/4 is a great daily. My first F80 M3 was a daily, my F80 M3 CS was not. It all depends on what other cars you have. In your case it will be a better daily than your FRS simply because it's more comfortable and has more features. In my case I have several other cars that are better daily drivers. That's not to say I never took my M3 CS to work. I took it once or twice a week just to change it up a bit. I saved gas with my i3 and kept the miles off the M.

Switching it up once and awhile between my daily and the M made me appreciate each car more-driving the i3 made me miss the power and handling of the M, but driving the M made me miss the size and instant torque of the i3.

I've been using my F82 M4 Comp as a daily driver for 2.5 years, covering 34k miles and love it, don't find it particularly harsh to drive even on shitty UK roads and with Sport+ configured on everything.

I'm expecting the G82 I have on order to be even more suitable/capable as a daily if I'm honest, due to the chassis improvements.

I feel like the G80 was supposed to be the most "dialiable" of the M Cars.

The M2CS is the tight 2 door coupe

and everything else is like an MBus

Honestly, the car doesn't use much gas.

When i picked up my car almost 3 weeks ago, obviously the dealer gives you a full tank. With LOTS of idling i did when i picked up the car and the dealer rep going over the features with me, to me almost babying it during the first part of my drive, then semi driving it aggressively on the last part of my drive, with each drive i've been doing so far, i currently have around 310-320 miles on the ODO and it says i have 22% of fuel left (or 87 miles of range left).

I think i can get to at least 350-360 miles to complete this tank. Which is pretty decent.

I haven't had to refuel since taking delivery but haven't been driving that much either because it's been snowing and I don't have my winter tyres yet. I've put 283 kilometers on the car and have another 106 kilometers before the tank is empty. The display says I'm consuming 16-17 liters per 100 kilometers, which seems like a lot to me.

Doing the conversion, that does seem like a lot lol.

How much fuel does our cars hold? I don't even know. I read online and it said 15.6?

So if i can get 350 miles to this tank (i also still haven't refueled since taking delivery of the car), that means i am doing roughly 21-22mpg give or take.

I didn't buy this car for fuel economy though as my job is only like 7 miles away so my toys are used for pleasure, but i think 21-22mpg mixed driving in a car that has 500hp is pretty good to me.

Although my 700+hp C7Z with the same type of driving/usage gets 25MPG

C/D got above 30mpg on the M3 with highway driving. It's definitely all in how you drive it.

I can believe it. I idle my cars a lot plus i only baby the cars during the first 20 minutes or so while the car is warming up. But on the way home is when i start pushing it.

22MPG combined for the M3C is not bad at all!

I'm still amazed how efficient this beast can be. On a long road trip to US, I averaged 28mpg and that includes driving quite a bit in the big apple. I consistently get 20+mpg in mixed driving in city with frequent spirited driving. Roughly same driving habits as my F30 340 and that got ~19mpg.

As soon as there's no more salt on our roads, the M3 gets to breathe again.
