My owner's manual doesn't talk about center jack points so it'll take someone's trial and error to confirm it.

Anyone lifted the rear of an M3 xDrive via the fins on the differential in order to lift the entire rear of the car at once, in order to place jack stands under the rear lift pucks?

My car is a manual but same as the xDrive on the rear fins of diff. I just used a 2x4 and jacked the whole rear up using the diff. No issues.

Too sketchy using the differential cover. I have four Jackpoint jack stands if I ever need to get all four corners up. Let me know if you'd like to borrow a pair for a bit.
Track season is starting and I use those quite a bit for brake fluid changes and inspections.

I would never, ever jack using the diff fins. That's crazy talk.

Here's the actual official bmw procedure where they specifically state to use the rear diff. I just used a piece of plywood between the jackpad and differential to better distribute the force.

Been looking for this information for M3 G80 AWD. Closest to official BMW instruction set I found for centre jack points. There are a few threads on this subject, none were conclusive for AWD models. |

We have a couple people saying it's fine to jack from the rear diff (maybe use a 2x4 to distribute weight) and a couple people saying that is a terrible idea (PDF indicates it's fine). Another person mentioned jacking from the rear frame immediately behind the rear diff.
It's been some time since this thread was created. Is there a consensus on where to place the jack in the rear so that jack stands can be placed correctly on either side? I'm sure one hundred people have found a solution. Just curious to hear from some of them ! Thanks! Last edited by Breilly217; 02-20-2024 at 07:58 AM.. |

There's a jack point for the front that's a circle right behind the lower plastic cover. I've used that point multiple times and it works fine. |

If you want to be extra careful, you can get a couple of jack stands w/ BMW adapters, jack the car up on the diff, then put the jack stands under at the two side jack points, and let it down. That way the car isn't jacked up on the diff the entire time.

I went with these and so far have worked great. Made of solid billet aluminum and cheaper than the rubber ones you posted. Jack Pad Adapter Anodized Black... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725GCJ6T...p_mob_ap_share |
