You're using a G22 grille poll is being used to make inferences about a G80/G82 car. The people who buy that car AND the people who vote in that poll, as well as the products themselves are totally different. You want to discount the G80/82 poll because it was on the overall design, fine, you can at least make a logical argument there. You can't (or rather you shouldn't) use the G22 grill poll to discuss the G80/G82 grill and you certainly shouldn't cite it in the context of aftermarket bumper replacement options. Even if YOU don't see big differences in the grill, you have to acknowledge the bumper is just a little tiny bit different.

If I do go for this car, I will ask BMW for a discount of the front bumper kit, paint and fitment. If not, GTS IT IS.

I like the smaller grills in the photoshop pictures better. And I don't see anything wrong with the M3/M4 borrowing the grill or design elements from the M8 which is a beautiful car IMHO. I didn't have to warm up to the M8. It looked great from the beginning. I don't hate the new M3/M4 design but I also didn't have the same reaction as I did for the new 8-series or previous M3/M4 designs.

Much better but that hood line still looks awful due to the two bumps — especially from the side.

I'm just looking at how people talk about the core of it being too big. Personally I'd probably take the 2nd to last in the series above. As for the context of aftermarket - I do think it's relevant, because there are a ton of people who buy the cheaper car and gussy it up with body kit parts to make it look like an M car, and there has been plenty of discussion around aftermarket replacements regardless of G22 / G82 base. I get that it's a sensitive topic for some people but hey man you do you, I'm not saying don't get one or anything just was wondering where you were getting that the majority liked it because I wasn't seeing it / getting that impression / vibe from most of the posts in both the G80 / G82 and G20 / G22 forums. It's all good. |

Not sure about the cross shopping. Maybe more on these models and the M340 and M440 than in the past, as they're more aggressive. I personally hate the grille on the M440 and love it on the G80. Go figure. Thanks for your perspective.

i could see how the new design is divisive for sure but just reworking the grille makes it look so much worse in my opinion. But thats coming from someone who likes the direction they went lol youve got the two raised humps that curve down nicely into the questionable big grille which is curved back into the rear of the mouth on the bottom and it all may not be your cup of tea because its pretty over the top but it makes sense... when you swap out that grille for one half the size everything looks ridiculous

Seeing as we have to keep going over this subject, even though it has its own thread - The Official G8x Grille Talk Thread https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1744856, can you all at least spell it correctly?
Grill: a grated metal cooking utensil (noun); to cook over direct heat (verb). Grille: a network of metal, wooden, or plastic bars that acts as a barrier or screen.

The e46 is unique in that it was the last NA 6 in an m car.
The e9x is unique in that it had the first and last v8 put into an m car. The f8x m is...idk. Not that unique, historically speaking. The g8x m will be remembered most for it's ___________ the same way the 996 911 is remembered most for its ____________. Resale Values will likely follow the same depreciation curve. |

This blows the current design out of the water by a mile. When I see it I don't cringe. I love it at first sight which is the way it should be. I don't get that with the current abomination.
