Hahaha It's quite funny watching people get out the car! Some if they don't twist out the right way end up banging their head, some almost fall out on the floor completely, and some manage a smooth getaway. Once you get used to it, it's not a problem at all. Not one person complained about sitting in them and "always" compliment them!

Right hand on the top of the steering wheel, right foot in car on floormat, and left hand on the door sill. With those three anchor points I can hover right over the left side bolster and then ease down into the seat. This is how I've "perfected" getting in/out without rubbing at all on the bolster, and it's quick enough to seem like a "normal" seat.

I had the opportunity to sit in both prior to ordering. The wife and I both agreed that the carbon buckets looked great but would not work for us. I'm not big but felt like I could not move my legs when seated. Getting out was a pain. I couldn't pay the extra money for good looking seats that were (to me) impractical. The standard seats have great adjustability and when you sit in the seat and drive this car... it is still special. I had one of the first ever xDrive M3s delivered in 🇩🇪 August 2021. Loving this car.

With no prompting this is how I almost immediately started getting in/out of my car. I don't even do anything with my left hand, just right foot on the floor and right hand on the wheel and drop into these wonder seats.

There is no one right way. It depends on your height, body type, strength and flexibility. I have VERY long legs and I put my butt in first. My feet are on the ground until I get about an inch from the seat cushion. I saw someone who was young, fit and strong put his head in, then right hand on the seat bolster near the console and then his right foot on the floor. He just lifted himself using his right hand and right foot and got in. You need to try it for yourself. See if you can find someone near L.A. who will let you sit in his/her car. I wouldn't let you drive mine, but you could try getting in and out. SF is to far, but there must be someone closer

I didn't order yet but I think I am leaning toward getting them, the only problem is the lady who is gonna be next to me on long drives......

The problem will be the in and out part. Tell her to skip the skirt if she wants to be comfortable while getting in and out. The middle bulge is also a problem for some. Just look around in your area and see if any dealer has a car that is equipped with the seats. Making decisions based on a thread on the forum will do you no good.

The saying is "a happy wife is a happy life", but that is not always true. However, I can say that "An unhappy wife is an unhappy life". For me, my wife prefers the buckets. The rigid bolsters give her something for support as she gets in. Her back tends to curve to the left, and the shape of the seat giver her better support. She was the big reason I got them. The reason I got rid of my G32 was that she hated the longer, heavier door. I got the 4 door because it was "quieter" - fewer complaints from the passenger's seat.

FWIW, I just placed an order on an m4, and decided to option the buckets.
I'm relatively a fat guy, (36" Waist) and after sitting in the buckets it transforms the feel of the car.
The car is going to be my DD, and the difference in feel between the buckets and the base seats was enough for me to take the slightest inconvenience of the getting in and out of the car, I guess with the m4 it's probably easier as the door opening is wider.

I think both sayings are true , I do not think my wife will like them, but we will try both soon, and if she was OK with it, I am going to include those.

CFB vs Comfort

I struggled with this one as well. I had an extended test drive in a car with the carbon fibre buckets they're very comfortable, however they are a PITA to get in and out of. I am a smaller frame I don't carry a lot of weight, but I decided in the end to get the comfort seats. To be honest one of the influences was we tend to take my car more than my wife's when we go out and I know she would be uncomfortable in CFB's. Also from what I can see the comfort suites are still very good seats and will hold me in for those spirited twisty road drives, otherwise my car will be a daily driver. (not that I won't have lots of fun driving to and from the grocery store, Ha!)

I wonder if I could even get in and out of the CF buckets I'm my tight garage. I can only open the door on my current car halfway without touching the wall.

This seems to be the main feedback, can you live with the ingress/ egress issues of the carbon bucket seats?

I ordered the carbon buckets and I have a bit of a disability with my left leg. I'll figure out how to get in and out but the seats are too sexy to pass on 😂 they are a must imo and just complete the interior.

I can't open the door all the way and have no issues getting in or out of the CFB seats.

Phew. Good to hear.

I have a stupid post in the idle of my garage so I'll have the same issue. Whatever. I'll figure it out

I daily the carbon bucket sets and love them! I spend lots of time stuck in traffic and have had no issues with them being uncomfortable at all. They're weird at first but once you develop a technique to get in and out its fine. I recommend ceramic coating the leather just to protect it from possible friction or dye transfer. I would absolutely get them again.
