The Big Black Mamba and Little Boy Blue...

This G80 is so different than the M8. The M3 S58 engine just asks to be raped and pushed while the S63 requires more input from me. But with that input; it will produce the faster car in the straights.

But right now, I like driving the G80 more. Its just more fun and creates that driver "feel".

Seems like we have very similar taste. My current is an m340i in dravit gray with mocha interior and i'm strongly considering ordering a g80 in TB2 with tartufo next year...

I agree. Having been able to drive the G80, M8 and M5 back to back to back, the M8 was my lease favorite. Very numb feeling. Just kinda blah. M5, on the other hand, my favorite by far.

I know you are quoting him but you know Ive owned all 3 and concurrently have two and the M5 is much closer in feel to the M8 vs the G80 is so many driver situations. I like the M8 because its unique and looks so menacing vs the M5 even though mine was a First Edition.

I can only speak from pure ownership and my roads vs a test drive or shorter term drives though that others have had. Ive thrown my M5, M8, and G80 into many of the same corners (for proper sampling) and its just not the equal in feel, chassis flex, steering response, etc. The 600lb weight shows its ugliness in these situations while the M5/M8 are brutal GT cars with great luxury. Clearly the steering on the G80 without the front drive axle makes for a better "point and shoot" as well. Again my opinion as an owner.

I’m sooooo tempted to trade my G80 in on a fully loaded M8. Problem is it won’t fit in my garage and my payments would double. I could handle the latter but I would still have no place to put the thing. I think it’s one of the coolest looking cars I have ever seen. I didn’t know it wouldn’t be as good handling as the M5 or G80. Thanks for that information.

Its almost 206 inches long and is the widest bmw ever made... going in I knew what its strong suits were: GT Cruiser crushing performance, great luxury, tremendous presence, but if one is turning all day every day (which Im not) its not optimal. Dont get me wrong, for every day normal use this car will crush souls even in big bends and sweeps but there are the purists out there that will choose different.

If I was stuck with just one, I would take the M8 as the loss in driveability vs the G80 is not enough for me to choose the cheaper M car. I love that I can have both. I dont know for sure but I think the GC runs pretty good track times even against the M5 CE (not CS).

M8 GC is probably the best looking car BMW makes right now, IMHO. If I could afford it, I'd have one.

However, I still love the looks of the G80 and cannot wait for mine to arrive.

I agree the M8GC is the prettiest BMW made today (my opinion) but there's something about the G80 M3 in my view that just makes want to own it. It's got to be the controversial front that makes it so attractive & unique... of course being an all rounder at the right size that does everything very well at this price point makes it the logical option for me.
