Getting some interesting comments on my decision to get a "base" G80

I had an F80 CS, my only auto. Great car. Hated it.

I'm in Westchester. A friend recommended Gallon Measure in Montrose. Stopped by, he knew what I wanted in 10 seconds and went in this morning. Called a few other shops in area and they seemed "confused". I told these guys "x pipe" and next question was what day can you bring it in.

Apparently the manual box isn't rated to deal with the higher power in the comp. I'm sure they build in a buffer but I assume once you get to 600hp the clutch will be slipping and the gear box might get damaged after a while if driven aggressively.

Who knows, could be the same issue with the Comp gear box. Im not sure how much power that is rated for?

I come here on these car forums, where ball busting reigns supreme, to share the somewhat hilarious and completely "devoid of brand insight" comments I've been getting.

People going to hate no matter what. Like you, I find it amusing. My Brother had a new Ferrari 488 and people that were driving minivans or challengers used to say the craziest things. We still talk about it years later.

That's amazing, and apparently common for exotic owners.

My best friend has a GT3 in manual (along with 18 other cars) and a 20 year old kid in a Infiniti Q50 told him "PDK is faster bro."

He was driving his 918 that he spent $1 mil on and a newer 911 owner told him it was "time for an upgrade," not realizing it's literally the most sought after P car in the world lol.

I've had just the opposite when people see mines a manual they get all giddy and say oh it's a manual! Then they tell me about there manual car or that they want to get one. It's nice to see people still with a passion for them.

If it wasn't for the MT, I'd be going for an M550i. I couldn't care less about what others think. I'm buying the car to enjoy it myself. But, the discussion about tunes and the ZF manual torque capacity is an important one. Does anyone know exactly which transmissions is on the G80 manual so we can find its specifications?

Save the manuals!

I ordered an AWD but I def get excited about seeing a non-comp because I know that person loves to drive and they didn't just buy the car because its popular. I wanted AWD, so I was willing to trade a manual for an auto. Hard choice but I don't think I will regret it.

The general populace cannot tell the difference between a thespian and a lesbian - I'd be astonished if they knew that the M3 Competition only comes in auto.

Though I do wish we had an option to get black badges.. really don't like silver badges.
