Let me put it this way, the G81 is the only BMW I am interested in buying in the US. Hope they're listening to the reception of the RS6, which I've actually seen a surprising amount of in Seattle. And genuine excitement from enthusiasts towards the car at meets/shows.

Ex-E92 M3 owner here but have not been really interested in a BMW product since then. The touring would bring out a lot more excitement for the brand for me. I'm almost swayed with the beast S58 in the G80 but the there's still a bit more left to go. I have a feeling that they still might do it as a surprise to boost excitement and "viral" announcement just like Audi did.

Audi has done well with the RS6…. I think this could work in the US.

This is the first photo I've ever seen of a G8x where I can say the grille doesn't look "too bad." The front European license plate breaks it up nicely, and the blacked out lower portion of the grill and black cowl keeps it clean so the obtrusive kidneys don't stand out as much.

I'm amazed the cult following that wagons have. I don't see the appeal at all.

More practical sedan?

I really do not get the appeal of sedans but they make more sense when they have big and practical boot.

Still waiting for BMW to make a new clownshoe - would be even okay with this front end when they would make a three-door version.

Someone should start a change.org petition
Already done. https://www.change.org/p/bmwusa-bmw-...ring-us-market

BMW will not bring this car to the US. Heck they aren't bringing any wagon to the US anymore. Keep dreaming fellas.

Yeah, it won't be coming to the states. In fact, I'll wager wagons in general will be disappearing as the market migrates more and more to SUVs and cross overs.

A couple of years ago when I was negotiating on a Touring I asked a sales manager why we don't have the 340 touring over here and he just smirked and said "The performance wagon market is already addressed with the X series"

Talk about missing the point. The X class is good for road tripping and grocery getting but I've got a Mercedes ML500 but I can't roof mount my road bike on that thing. Only my wagon gives me the ease of loading and removal my bikes and gear on site.

End of an era.

You are traveling around with the same footprint. Might as well use the empty air space over the trunk.

I am with you. I want to like the g80 so badly. I love the interior, and the s58 and chassis/suspesion sound amazing. But that face..... Ugh.

So much want for this car. Would trade my G80 tomorrow for the G81 if they bring it to the US, but unfortunately they won't.

It's all talk and zero action here in the US. There's wagons here and I barely see anyone even consider them. All I hear is people talking about wanting a wagon; while they put their money elsewhere. Think about it… how many of your enthusiast friends in the US actually bought a wagon? I know one person, and he just bought an RS6 Avant because he stumbled upon one going unsold and got a good deal.

I don't know of anybody personally who likes Wagons. My car friends hate even sedans let alone a wagon that they say reminds them of Clark Griswold. They only consider coupes real sports cars. If they need more space they get an SUV for or Truck to tow stuff. A wagon was always seen as goofy.

Just had a great weekend in Nürburg… part of which was riding in my buddy's W212 E63 wagon. The thing is a beast and is better looking and more practical than its sedan sibling.

What your friends think doesn't really matter. Go look on bring a trailer at what 10 year old BMW wagons sell for and tell me again there isn't a market.

The problem is BMW hasn't bothered to give us a good wagon in 10 years. The F30 wagon was great but you couldn't even get in with the N55, let alone a manual transmission like the sedan.

I would get over the huge nose of the M3 and order a G81 if they made it available in Canada.

I have a A6 allroad now, and visually love it, but needs more power. I go back and forth on if I'd get the g81 vs a rs6. I think the rs6 looks better, but I think the g81 would be more fun. But the choice becomes real easy if BMW doesn't decide to contend in the wagon segment.

My attempt to visually make it a bit sportier, wagons done right look amazing.
