Now if it's on the face of the headlight or elsewhere that needs to be figured out. It may be a non issue now, but who knows what may happen down the road if these holes (where ever they are) are blocked by PPF.

I have asked my SA if he can dig into this. Let's see what he comes back with.

P.S. My headlights are laser.
I've seen a lot of Porsche headlights get all wonky with PPF because it does something weird to the laminate on the outside of the plastic. I've had PPF on my Macan for 3 years with no issue so know knows.

FWIW I visited the PPF shop I'm considering and raised the question about this thread. He had never heard of it before. Sounds like this is myth to me.

I just had my front end (including laser headlights) wrapped with XPEL - fingers crossed!

I don't have any special knowledge about G8X headlights, but I've PPF'd headlights on multiple cars (including E39, F30, and F23), and no issues.

I showed my PPF guy the snippet from the manual and he said that's very interesting. Nothing else. I'm getting a full PPF on my car as we speak, if I end up getting issues with the headlight my guy will take care of it. Basically it's trial and error at this point.

I heard about this from a PPF installer. He mentioned Porsche guys were having issues. Many threads on porsche forums about the ppf delaminating and cracking and being impossible to remove but i think their headlights already come laminated?

I've had PPF on mine since June, no issues. Kind of a no brainer as these things chip if you look at them sideways and they're 3k+ each to replace.

My biggest issues right now is the windshield, mine is sandlblasted to shit already at 6k miles.

Look into exoshield or something similar to protect your windshield. It's like a giant screen protector for your windshield.

I have it, and my windshield still looks sandblasted (and I never tailgate trucks or even pickup trucks!), but I do drive fast with others, so rock chips are unavoidable if you're doing 100mph+ behind other sports cars traveling at those speeds. Even a tiny pebble hitting your windshield at 120 mph will do some damage, let alone several if you happen to encounter some on the road unexpectedly.

But I guess the good news is that they can remove the windshield protection film (WPF) and my windshield will look "showroom new", theoretically. I'll likely have my WPF replaced sometime next spring, so I'll let everyone know if it truly protected the windshield like I hoped.

I have had some big rocks hit my windshield and they took a chunk out of the WPF, rocks that would have likely caused a serious chip or crack in the windshield itself. And the good thing about the WPF is that it self-heals like PPF, so over time, the plastic will heal itself. It's cool...

....but mine wasn't cheap. $500. And I think it's like $100 to replace the WPF each time upon my request. Is it worth it? Not sure yet.

Oh, and BTW, I've had PPF on my laser headlights since I bought it in June, and have had no issues.

My 911 had this concern and we did not PPF it. Worried me to death…. Something to do with the way the lights are coated from the factory and the fact that Porsche would not warranty the lights if an issue occurred that needed warranty.

Hoping my G82 isn't the same. I will PPF them.

I applied PPF to my headlights even though I had concerns. I rarely drive in the rain and my car is garage kept, so I'm not too worried about condensation. If it becomes an issue I'll simply remove the PPF.

I have PPF (everywhere even on headlights) on my F82 for almost 3 years. No condensation or issues. However it's getting pretty beaten up lol.

I have a ppf like material over my windshield doesn’t last long but it saves the windshield like 6 months to maybe a year
