Do you have any one off options? Optimistic view is everything will be taken care of in Germany at the factory instead sitting at an open air VPD parking lot stateside.

On my way to Bremerhaven from BMW Group Werk Dingolfing.

Looks like a 10 hr train trip. This is the 1st BMW I have manufactured at Werk Dingolfing, as the previous convertibles (3/4 series/M4) were all manufactured at BMW Group Werk Regensburg.

Here are some live web cam links from my ED days:

https://www.blg-logistics.com/en/webcams

https://www.bremerhaven.de/en/webcam...ams.35085.html

Next will be ship tracking to Brunswick GA, which is a 3 hr drive from my home base of Charleston SC.

FYI Charleston SC only exports from Greer SC.

I was thinking this also , if that’s the case I’d consider myself lucky. Just exec, park assist, drivers assist, laser light and ventilated seats.

I have the same specs you listed except for drivers assistance— didn't that package have the offset sensor in the front grill?

Yes looks a little different with the sensor on the front grill. Mine is a G82 by the way.

I wonder how much timing matter on how long a car has been at port before it gets on a ship? So say if one has been at port since early last week vs one that got there late last week. Curious how that plays into the shipping equation.

For all ya taking delivery on the east coast, including PCD, this is the Wallenius Wilhelmsen schedule.

The October 20th and 26th departure stops in New York, then onto Brunswick.

The October 27th departure skips New York, embarks in Baltimore, then Charleston, Brunswick and Galveston TX. This boat, Freedom, is for the Texas delivery's.

A PCD can either depart Bremerhaven on October 20th, 26th or 27th.

You all don't know how stressful it was during ED, as we would have to wait to be loaded onto a truck to be transported to Bremerhaven.

Figure by November 17th your car will be at the Brunswick VPC (3 RoRO boats).

Apparently the RAM issue has been resolved by BMW AG as thousands of cars sitting at the VPC's are scheduled to be invoiced and released to US dealerships within days. Next issue will be truck transportation due to the driver shortage.

Touched base with Genius. Not assigned to a ship yet so don't think it's feasible to hitch a ride on the next WWL ship leaving 21 Oct. Next one after that is NYK leaving 3 Nov.

End game is Port Hueneme in SoCal

Was told at dealership the other day when my X5M competition was in for service, as I waited I spoke to a lot of people.

So just a heads up folks, take the 2 tools out there for the US and UK recalls and or stop sales with a grain of salt. Just confirmed with my CA that my car has been tagged with the RAM stop sale of which does not show up on either sites. Hopefully they get this fixed then on a boat soon. Oh well, at least it's built and at the port.

Did the CA confirm that the car will be fixed in Germany before shipping, and not at the VPC in Charleston?
I got a reply back from my CA and according to his system, mine is still not showing a stop sale... :knockonwood:

He did. So hopefully it does not sit too long. Could be a lot worse though.

Bummer... Looks like Genius/CAs are the only authority on the most up to date info. They seem to be resolving RAM stops quickly though.

I would probably actually it rather be stuck at port in Germany than in the U.S. Gives you a little more transparency on when it will arrive, rather than it sitting stateside a hop skip & jump away from your dealer with no timeline for resolution

There is no VPC in Charleston. It used to be in the upstate adjacent to the Greer US BMW factory over 15 years ago. Now the closest VPC to Charleston is Brunswick. Charleston only exports, maybe a prototype from Germany might be offload in Charleston that is going to Greer, as there is a train to the inland port in the upstate.

I wasn't going to waste my time either with the US or UK website for the stop sale for the RAM.

I'm at the Ports of Bremen or in German "Bremische Hafen" aka BreMerhaven(W).

This is the Wallenius Whihelmsen VIN tracking link:

https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com/track-trace

There is also "K" Line RORO which services Baltimore and Brunswick from Bremerhaven. Vessel Donington departs October 21, 2021, then Hawaiian Highway departs on November 2nd.

This is the "K" Line VIN tracking link:

https://apps.klineglobalroro.com/tracking/search

I just searched both sites using my VIN, which means my G83 hasn't been loaded. My future departures will be 10/21/2021 ("K" Line), 10/26/2021 (WW), or 10/27/2021 (WW) to Brunswick GA.

FYI- The K Line site doesn't support VIN tracking (WW may not either due to privacy issues). My car is on the Olympian Highway and the VIN doesn't work. I have the screen shot from my CA that shows the ship I'm on and the "Bill of Lading Number". The B/L number works on the K-Line site, but it kind of defeats the purpose if you already know which ship you're on from your CA.

Thanks for the information. I didn't know there's no VPC in Charleston.
So the vehicles that get offloaded in Charleston get sent to Brunswick for processing?
What VPC services vehicles bound for Georgia?

Vehicles are not offloaded in Charleston and sent to Brunswick.

A majority of the RORO ships after stopping in either New York-Port of Elizabeth and/or Baltimore, then heads to Brunswick. I assume the ship is practically empty when departing Brunswick as then it stops in Charleston and is loaded with X3/X4/X5/X6/X7 which are exported to Europe/rest of the world. The BMW US Manufacturing Factory in Greer SC puts the cars on a train bound for the Port of Charleston.

Now back to VPC Brunswick. After the vehicle is released by the VPC, it is then trucked to the dealership in the southeast. PCD vehicles are held at the VPC until 2 weeks prior to the customers PC date, and trucked to the PC in Greer SC.

Attached is a Google satellite of the VPC Brunswick.
