Was disappointed in what a dealership told me about ordering my new M4.
Want to order her for a Mar/Apr delivery, at a Performance Center. Not worried about where I do the order, just was shocked that I was given a price $10K over MSRP!

Loyal BMW owner and this is my 4th 2 door (3&4 series) but 1st M.

If anyone can recommend a dealership/dealer person, id be grateful~!

Even if a dealer had an open allocation (which just about nobody does with dealers having long waitlists for that), you wouldn't be seeing a car for another 5-6 months. Spring is not a delayed timeline, it's the earliest any new order can land in current conditions.

But even that was before the engine issues which seems to have BMW prioritize fixing a ton of cars already produced instead of having the parts utilized in producing new cars.

Given that what was an acute shortage before has become quite worse, any place that's not marking up above MSRP likely has a very long waitlist. A local dealership told me that the wait for a new customer now is about a year long with them.

My own car, which I ordered before things became this bad, it will likely be 5 to 6 months from the order date that I get it (we're already at the 4 month mark).

Ordered her the other day!... all I can say is that my dealer (EP) was able to get me what I was looking for.
I appreciate everyone's help.

This is not a slam but your comment that you will have to pay MSRP or better for a slot just didn't hold true. IF there is a dealership stating they have a year long wait list for MSRP+ for a new customer, that may just be fluff.
As I stated earlier, I am NOT a new customer (this will be my 4th 3/4 series coupe, 2nd vert and 1st M) Just expected more loyalty initially but in the end, it has worked out.

Expecting a Spartanburg delivery sometime in Apr, will post as it gets closer~

I actually bought my last one there (though, European Delivery!). Was very friendly with the service department and of course my dealer. As it turns out, the majority of the people I know there have left within the last year and my salesperson in the last month.

I was planning to talk to them about my car but in the end, as the other post states- I got close to what I wanted.
When I pick her up, I'll post pics and give more details~

Pretty sure open road is charging 10k over. Thats what they told me when I called them
