Thanks for clearing that up. Because the first thing I would think, is, if the DME is unlocked, you should be able to easily clear a code.

Exciting! Hopefully there will be more solid data, videos, dynos, price, installation etc info coming soon!
Also hoping for a tune that doesn't require ECU removal and shipping because that's a dealbreaker for me.

This has been in place for a few weeks now. A bunch of tuners like RKTunes, etc. have been offering the service. You have to pull the ECU and ship it to them to get it flashed.

The OBD solution by Levanime is much better. I'd bet people will be flashing from their phones by christmas.

The audio was not really clear but it seems like he mentioned being able to tune via the OBD? This would be great.

So from the information FEMTO gave me, you have to send them your DME first for them to unlock it then you can flash via OBD. OBD unlock should be coming soon tho.

So I just called them..Bold cars out here in Los Angeles is doing the custom tune. They've had the car on the dyno for 48 hours messing with it . He said we send your ECU to Europe for 2 weeks. Once it gets back to us we start the OBD tune. He said we are the only ones working with this company and they are the only ones in the world who can unlock it right now. He said check IG we will post everything there once complete

It seems all of the tuning shops regarding the G8x tuning are making the same statement about sending the ecu's to Europe for the unlock. I wonder who they are sending them to? Bosch maybe?

I'm not only a fan of not sending the ecu to europe for two weeks, but I won't do it. I'll wait for an OBD tune where I will have control over my tune.

Yea…it's like Jb4 has been working pretty good.. I would have to have another car and be willing to let my ECU go for two weeks

They are all sending them to Femtool that is posted above. That's the only company with capability to read and modify the new DMEs.

Every tuner that claims they are able to flash, tune, etc. is going through the same company.

The latest method by Levan clones your DME onto one that was before the lockdown, and then you can flash through the OBD like normal. That's definitely the best option so far. But you still need to send your DME in for the initial crack since no one else can do it yet.

Just don't be like the guy I saw that drove to the post office, pulled his DME, shipped it, then realized he couldn't start his car to drive home

Not a bad solution using a cloned ECU but when detected by the BMW service department one can be certain that your warranty goes away; unless there's something that I am missing.

Any and all tunes are detected. Weather you send it to NASA or EU and so on. So don't let that stop people from going this route. No different than JB4 or Racechip.
