I checked today as well (having read the debate over whether the designated week marks production beginning or completing), and the Genius representative also referred to it as beginning production. Maybe they've been advised to rephrase their responses, in order to give BMW a little more "wiggle room" in light of supply chain constraints and production scheduling hiccups.

Anyway, the good news is it's still Week 40.
That's what I'm thinking too. At this point 2 genius reps have told me the week refers to when the car starts production.

just a flash news for you US guys.

All the M3 that will enter production for week 37 and 38 are for the US and chinese market.

No M3/4 for the European market. I cannot have other infos, a part what is referred to mine into specific. My friend checked the colour 4AY (Skyscraper grey) of mine and there only two of them scheduled for production, both US cars, one in week 37 and one in week 38. Maybe is one of yours if you are waiting for a SSgrey car.

We, EU guys, have still to wait for our cars.

This seems to be complicated for everyone so I finally had my guy take a screenshot for you guys. Do you see required production? That means the week the car is supposed to be finished. I was originally week 35. Now you can see I am weak 42 is labeled confirmed. Either way getting back to what your people are telling you which is wrong but the week they give you is the week the vehicle was supposed to be completed. I hope this clears this up.

thanks for your post.

Just to add something, my dealer let me saw my status last week, and the requested production was originally week 31 for mine. Then nothing has happen as I didn't take care of the production to be honest, as I was assuming that my car should have been produced during my summer break and it was on the way to Italy when I took my M140i back to the dealer the 30th august, willing at the same time, to have such good news for my new M3 to arrive that day; later I saw the monitor telling week 40. So, following your post Patton250 I think that week 40 for mine is something "uncertain" at the moment as it is stil at 111 status, until I get a confirmed production date as you car.

Thanks, those dates seem to match up with what my dealer showed me on the UK system.

I don't have an updated screenshot but when I placed my order with the dealer it was saying:

Req. Prod.: 2021/09/37
Sub. Req. Prod.: 2021/09/37
Conf. Prod.: 2021/09/36

On 3rd August when my status went 112 it was updated to:

Conf. Prod.: 2021/09/37

And then last week when status went back to 111 it updated to:

Conf. Prod.: 2021/09/40

So who knows what will happen when I go to 112 again, it could go up more or it could come down... really don't know! Hopefully just stays at 40 though

If I am truly week 40, I should expect to go 112 at some point next week right?

Well when I look it up on my end it still says order received. I really don’t think anyone’s production week at this point, past the vehicles that are already on the assembly line, are set in stone. I think everything is up in limbo. Now there are people that deny that here that are being very optimistic and I pray they are right. However seeing what’s happening with the other auto manufacturers like Ford, dodge Toyota and Honda I know they are all shutting their plants down due to lack of parts especially chips and covid. As big as this forum is I can’t believe we don’t have a member here that works in the Munich plant. Somebody must know exactly what’s going on and can let us know. Maybe it’s not that bad. Maybe it’s catastrophic. I don’t know.

I've a got a friend in Munich, but he doesn't work in the production, he's an engineer, and he's trying to let me have some "first hand" infos through his colleagues of the production dept. The only thing I can ensure you, is that all the m3/4 which are fortunately going into production in week 37 and 38 will be for US and chinese customers.

Yeah i mean i guess it doesn't matter since there's still a while to wait even after the car is "finished", so whether it's start of production or end of production, we still gotta wait lol.

But maybe someone is right, maybe genius has to re-word their responses to buy some time?

And I'm one of thoes Chinese customers,my confirm build week went from 34 to 41 then 36 and now 37. I'm not going to believe that week number anymore, unless the status changes to 150,which is not, still 112 from the first day I ordered my M3. But hey, great info from inside BMW,it gives me hope anyway.
My build:M3 Xdrive Brooklyn Grey(with all the options except carbon ceramics brake)

Thank you for that. Well perhaps he will know what production is going to be like for the next six months. Are they going to slow down? There are reports from the BMW plant from a month ago that they are tens of thousands of chips short. That’s coming directly from BMW but like I said the article is from late July. Hopefully he gives you some more information.

Yeah, just spoke to him. Mine is confirmed production week 40 for the time being, originally planned week 35, so it's a 5 week jump delay. But all the microchip producers cannot face the request, due to the fact that last year, every kind of raw material producer, closed for the lockdown. then is a chain. Now there will be a shortage for a period between 5 and 10 months. In this period there will be several delays, and production problems for the workforce too.
Other manufactures are in an even worst situation.

Another thing I've been told.....as I'm planning to change my girlfriend's car with a MINI, for 2022 there won't be the same discounts we are used to have from the dealers, both for BMW and MINI. So....if you're thinking to buy something, go straight asap.

OK Guys to help you have some certain infos, I'm posting the screenshot that my dealer sent me about my order status:

If you go to your dealer they'll be able to tell you what's happening to your car almost precisely.

here's mine (expected for week 40 at the moment...hope it's definitive)

you see the production status. All your dealers MUST give you these informations if you want.

I'm not sure about the Sub-supplier date. I think instead that it's the previous estimated production week. Anyone knows exactly what does "Req. Prod. Sub." means?

as promised, I give you some good news for our M's.

BMW is pushing ahead all the most powerful variants, instead of maintaining the "mainstream" versions. So that, a lot of M's that are waiting for their production slot, will be moved ahead in the following weeks.

this is what my friend wrote me:

great if the date is confirmed in the system for the time being, so if it is in power of BMW, the date will be hold. The colleagues from the purchase dept. this weeks did a really great and stressful job with organizing lots of electronic components by shifting and mixing them to make the production of the top models continue. They're giving absolute priority to the plants which are producing the higher priced and upper class vehicles, in Spartanburg the upper X, Dingolfing with 7, 8, 5 and 4 series and Munich the bigger motorized variants (M cars) for instance. The UKL plants has much more cancelled shifts, because they decided first to try to produce the cars with high revenue, and the M3 (and all M models) are for sure in the top priority segment for BMW, so if the supply chain doesn't crack totally, I think your car will be produced in plan.

Thanks for the update! By the way I just spoke to BMW UK Genius, my status has changed to 112 again still expected delivery week 43, but was not able to tell me prod week for some reason.

Thanks! Hope you flip over soon as well! I think BMW are getting their shit together now and sorting out their production schedules, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of us go into production next week or week thereafter

As mine! If we'll be lucky to have our ordered confirmed for week 40, ours will be sister cars
