Is it just me or is the M4 fender gap kind of terrible for an M car? M3 is at least better and more what I would expect from factory but the M4... yeesh.
I've never lowered a car before but probably would if I end up with M4. Any ideas what the most cost effective and no-change-to-comfort options will be? Plain old lowering springs? MP or KW HAS? Very unlikely I would be doing an install myself so that factors in. |

I'll probably have the aftermarket lowering kit in my garage before I can delivery of my G80. Best mod ever is springs+spacers

Yeah idk why BMW loves their massive gaps - one of the first things I did on F8X was MPHAS. Once KW releases their HAS kit for G8X it's likely BMW will rebrand it with OE specific spring rates and release a G8X specific MPHAS for guys who want to maintain warranty. If not, I did see Evolve released a MSS HAS kit which looked pretty great - really fixes the OE stance

I respectfully disagree.
While you may not like the "stance," the ride height is what it is to provide an acceptable amount of wheel travel for good ride compliance. What makes the M3/M4 fabulous is that it is fast and capable, but still provides reasonable comfort in normal road driving. If you lower the car, you will: 1) Need to install stiffer springs to prevent the car from bottoming on jounce bumpers 2) Increase damping to account for stiffer springs. Not easy with active suspension, but suppose you could just leave it in Sport Plus and hope for the best In this case you now have a car with worse ride quality, having degraded years of hard work from the BMW M vehicle dynamics team. On a related note, I have a similar opinion on wheel spacers, which do all kinds of awful things to the steering geometry, all in the name of looks. Leave the car alone, enjoy what BMW has given you. So back to the question, what is going to be the best way to on this generation to lower it while not significantly altering it's reportedly excellent comfort dynamics? MSS makes a great product for the X3M so perhaps that is the answer. I have a feeling my personal answer is going to be buy an M3.

So this thread made me wander over to the local store and this is what I saw. I confirmed the blocks were out as well on both cars. I know there will be springs for those who want to lower but it looks like its gonna take almost 40mm in the rear or around that. Thats too much to compress the dampers (oem).

Kw is a very reputable operation, if they're offering a HAS I'm thinking it's completely within reason on stock components and geometry. |

I'd drive the car 2-3000 miles before making a decision on this.

I cant even source a part number yet on the MP HAS... but for the M4 its gonna need to move down range a lot in the back.

FWIW, MP HAS is between 5 and 20 mm.
