blind spot monitors inconsistent?

Hey all.... I finally picked up my m3 and have been enjoying it immensely over the past two days. It is amazing how different it feels to drive than a m340i.

When driving today in relatively heavy traffic, i was looking at the mirrors trying to get used to using the blindspot monitors since I've never had them before.

I noticed the driver's side lit up every time there was a car there. But the passenger side often did not light up even as a passed a car from a car length or more ahead through multiple car lengths behind in the right lane.

Is this normal? Are they just not as accurate as I assumed they would be? Or is it possible there is something wrong with the sensors? Anything I can troubleshoot, or just head to the dealer?

This has been the behavior for me for the last 3 cars I've had with the blind spot mirror. Right really only activates if you have your blinker on. Even then it's inconsistent. I almost had an issue today because someone moved unexpectedly as I was changing lanes

Interesting. I'm trying to find the manual section discussing these settings to see if there is something i can change. Will let you know what happens.

I thought that there were inconsistencies in my F90, however, when I am just 'creeping' past someone it stays lit, but rapidly passing a truck say, it doesn't indicate, I think it may be related to the relative speed

A few cars ago I ordered the Euro side mirrors. They have an area on the lateral edge that is bent out a little so there is literally no blind spot in the mirror. I don't know why we have to rely on technology when they could just use those mirrors here. I trust them far more than the sensors since I could see the area with my eyes.

We can't even get full laser lights that PREVENT blinding other drivers for some reason. They rather make them fixed. Smh.

The sensors should work fine...i mean it's detecting a damn Dodge Caravan from ten feet, not a F35 from 40 miles away. Hahaha

Guess its just the old...looks cool doesn't work as well as it should deal.

There's always pros and cons. Lol. The idea of diy antidazzle laser lights scares me! I'm blinded now by all the fake hid headlights here. I don't want them even brighter. Lololol
