Visconti Tuning Runs 9.9 with No Modifications!
As we've extensively been testing our Stage 2 package (what you might've seen in our other post using Downpipes and Flex Fuel) that is now going consistent 9s in the 1/4 mile. We've also been dialing in our Stage 1 (bone stock, no modifications. Tune only) with another client of ours.
Again, this car is 100% bone stock, no modifications at all aside from our tuning on Ecutek. This car even has stock tires. If we can get 1.6 60' on stock tires, this car is going to go 9.9X bone stock! Such an incredible platform that we look forward to growing with! #ViscontiTuning Last edited by Marshall@ViscontiTuning; 01-15-2022 at 12:40 PM.. |

So you essentially are saying that with your tune only you gain a full second in the quarter? And around 14 mph in trap speed? I was born at night but not last night- there is more to the car than just a tune. hmmmmmmmmmmmm

That car is about as bone stock as the last stripper I dated with 42DD. Like my homeys told me when I shared my story with them - pics or it didn't happen.

So to reach 136 mph trap speed means you need to be over 650 whp, probably closer to 700. Even on ethanol, that would be one prayer of a tune to reach those power levels on an all-stock car.

I think this car is way under rated. I'd have to see the logs but I don't doubt it with the E blend ….

Guys, this is entirely possible we have seen it with the X3M.
My car does a 10.5 vs more like an 11.8 stock, all from a custom tune and E70 - zero other mods. Stock DP, airbox etc. The beauty of the S58 is that it has massive redundancies in the fuel system to allow this and the turbos flow so much air. Take the various stage 1 - X3M's like mine which are running 10.5 and now 10.4, take off 600lb's and we are hitting these times. Marshall, care to share any info from logs which show different boost / timing between stage 1 and 2 cars? I'm still on the fence on whether DP's add anything once ethanol is in the mix. Would love to see logs which demonstrate more timing / boost once a car has DP's. I am talking about cars which run the same fuel mixes, with DP's and air boxes being the only difference. |

Not so sure about that. My GTR did that trap FBO/E85. Was not near 700 AWHP. It was a long time ago😵

I think that certainly was the case, but we seem to be at a time where manufacturers are making more efficient cats and DP's.
There have been a few examples where people have put DP's on these (S58's) and not gone faster, however there seems to be more to gain on 93 and 98 vs ethanol blends. The APR tunes on Audi's and VWs mirror this too, DP's on regular fuels make a bigger difference. May be to do with ethanol running cooler, either way I'd love to see some logs and comparisons. As it stands the worlds fastest X3M (running a 10.2) still uses stock DP's with cats. |

So side question, a stock GTR averages ~125 mph trap. Do you think a tune-only mod on a DBA GTR (any fuel) could have gained 10+ mph in the 1/4 mile?

We also just reset the record. I shared the video on facebook. Our other customer with Downpipes / E30 / Rear Tires .... just went 9.8@140mph and i think he still has minimal room for improvement. Quote:
Yes. Hence the crappy 60'. He hopes to get tires next week. He hasnt even installed his flex fuel kit yet. Why? Same as an X3M and we've been a best of 10.2 in it (we have that record to my knowledge), bone stock. Tune only with consistent 10.3s. - This is the same thing in a lighter chassis. |

-EcuTek, Visconti Flex Fuel, Visconti Custom Tune- Yes, it was on our E30 map. That same car was going 10.5x on our 93 tune. |

While I couldn't care less about quarter mile times or 60-130 times, I do take a bit of offence with the nomenclature here.
Since when did bone stock mean a car with a tune? Bone stock = as it came from the factory. If you give that car to BMW for servicing or if your engine had any issues, they would flag it and say they're not covering anything under warranty because your warranty is invalid from a tune. Not trying to spark a debate about warranties, but that car isn't "bone stock".

That's completely besides the point. That's like saying "I can run a 3 minute mile" then saying "but only while riding on a bicycle". The latter nullifies the former. Bone stock is bone stock, saying that this G8X is bone stock while saying it also has a tune is an oxymoron.

OP, why don't you edit the title to say the following: "Xdrive runs 10.1 with no hardware modifications" or: Xdrive runs 10.1 stock hardware, only ethanol tune" "No modifications" is clearly annoying people. It's a bit like Elon Musk and the * required for the PLAID to run sub 2.0 in the 0-60. It certainly annoys the shit out of me that caveats like deleting the roll out and needing a prepped track were there. With the (albeit unintentional) misleading headline you are spoiling an otherwise impressive achievement. |
