Delivery of my Individual San Marino Blue G80 M3 Comp

What an amazing experience this was. This is my 4th M3, and by far the most incredible in every way. I've had to wait for this almost as long as I've had to wait for anything in my life, and it definitely led to a great deal of anticipation and excitement. This forum has kept me sane through the whole process of choosing options, finding an allocation, making changes and then just waiting and waiting and waiting.

I'm still trying to digest the whole experience, and will post more thoughts on the driving dynamics after some time with the car.

I do have to say, San Marino blue is something else in the flesh, cameras truly cannot capture it. I also do need to get some more pics with a proper camera, but I hope these help give an idea of how dynamic this color is. I am completely thrilled with my selections. More to come soon.

PS, I did get Pirelli P zero's if anyone is curious.

Looks great! Mine is set to hit Baltimore on December 10th. So hopefully I can join that club soon. I can't believe I first put my order in back in June.

Wow you've been waiting longer than me. I have to say, the last 1-2 weeks of waiting was definitely the hardest.

I fell over the tipping point after waiting so long that I ordered an M240i to use as a winter car.

Did you get winter tires? When I was looking at that route, all of the ones I would want to run were on back order for a long time.

Interestingly my local Costco had the winters in stock. I was able to snag an amazing deal on the Michelin Alpin 5 (square 19" setup), $1150 or so after the Michelin discount. I am pairing them with some bronze superspeed flow form wheels. I'll post pics once I get them on in a week or two.

Congrats, amzbimmer, on a beautiful specification -- and finally receiving it!! For weeks while I was chasing an allocation, I was playing with Individual colors (blues mostly), and San Marino took turns with Aegean as my top choice. Ultimately I decided to stop the bleeding and pop for a quasi-Individual color (Tanzanite).

BTW, props for the choice of 825Ms and snagging Alpin5s (ditto and ditto).

Thank you!

Glad you were able to get an allocation in this crazy market. Tanzanite truly works beautifully with this generation of M3, I definitely considered it as well. Just can't beat BMW blues!

Looks amazing! Which Costco? They are out of stock by me. Might have to drive out there if they still have stock lol.

I spoke with the front desk at Costco in Allentown and he was able to order them in (this was back in October). You can try that at your local Costco- I imagine they get the tires from the same central warehouse.

Right now Costco seems to have a $150 off deal, expiring tomorrow- hopefully you can get that as well.

Thanks for the tip. Ordered a set of Michelin PA 5s with $150 discount. Getting them next week. Double dipping with Costco VISA and Exec membership. Love Costco.

Now I need wheels to fit them on LOL!

Congratulations! That blue is awesome. Didn't realize how deep it would be.
Also cool on getting some winters at a nice price.

Thanks! I was surprised myself at how nice it was in person.

I'm determined to not let this car be a garage queen, unlike my last. Which is even harder giving that I now often work from home.

Stunning color. It's true: even the best cameras cannot capture just how beautiful this shade of blue really is. Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on a beautiful combo!
Your signature says you also had an M3 CS.
Curious how would you compare the two?
Was your CS SMB as well?

I have an F80 CS and contemplating between purchasing it once the lease ends or going to the G80...

I have to say my review is currently a bit limited as I haven't completed the break in process. On my few trials with the G80 M3, it is so effortlessly fast, it's really on a different level. I've only hit 5k rpm, and I can only imagine what this bad boy does at 7k+. At the same time, the new G80 is such an amazing all around car, it does everything very well, as other have echoed. It's such a comfortable long haul GT that has all the creature comforts you could ever want.

The M3 CS is a very different beast. It's more of a "driver's car" as you know, a bit more raw, subjectively felt lighter, and the suspension is a bit more stiff. I love the DCT, but I was getting a bit annoyed not having comfort access and a middle armrest in the CS. The tech is also getting a bit dated now in the CS.

My M3 CS was white, but I lusted after the San Marino, and at the time I couldn't find a good deal on the blue (which was the biggest reason I didn't buy mine out). And weirdly enough, that's why I ended up waiting to get everything I want in the new G80 package, and so far I'm thrilled.

Either way you go, you can't go wrong- both are great cars in their own rights.
