Wombo's BSM M3 Comp xDrive Build
Picked up my G80 last weekend in San Antonio and decided to document the full build every step of the way. The goal is to make it the ultimate daily driver. Coming from a MKV Supra, I liked the b58 powertrain, but wanted the full M experience along with the ridiculous grip of the xDrive system. Also wanted rear doors since I often take others with me and having room for just one passenger isn't enough (though I did manage to cram a friend in the trunk once). My planned mods will be mostly cosmetics and the like, powertrain I don't plan on touching until either the warranty expires or my willpower does . Here's the build spec:
2024 M3 Competition xDrive Exterior: Black Sapphire Metallic Interior: Fiona Red/Black Extended Leather seats Options: Executive Package Parking Assistance Package Carbon Fiber Trim Drive Recorder Ventilated Seats Laser Lights 826M Bicolor Wheels Red Calipers Timeline: 7/3/2023 Joined waitlist 8/24/2023 Order placed, build week 42 10/16/2023 Production complete 11/17/2023 Boards Horizon Highway bound for Galveston, TX 12/05/2023 Arrives at port of Galveston 12/14/2023 Arrives at dealership 12/15/2023 Delivery day! 10 miles on the odometer, shiny and beautiful. I drove the Supra down to pick her up along with my buddy @vc.ou on IG, he'll be doing a miniseries on his YT channel https://www.youtube.com/@VinceChristmastree following the build as well. All the photos from delivery day in this thread are courtesy of him. Drove back up about 350 miles, it was so hard to stick to the break-in, but I managed to keep my foot from pressing the fun pedal down too much. Picked up a rock chip or two on the hood, but that will be taken care of when it gets ppf'd. 12/18/2023 Dropped off car for full paint correction and stealth ppf, ceramic coating the wheels. Tint will be done when I get it back at another shop. Planned future mods: - Mishimoto skid plate (ordered) - Lowering springs/spacers (still looking at options) - Single midpipe (haven't decided on brand, but I want to get rid of as much rasp as possible, the smoothness of the b58 was perfect) - Hardwired radar detector (deciding between Uniden R8 or Redline 360c) - Grill swap (CSL style), front lip - Paint matched reflectors - Intake/exhaust - CSL drl module - CF air inlets Last edited by Wombo; 12-30-2023 at 03:01 PM.. Planned future mods: - Mishimoto skid plate - Must Have!!! - Lowering springs/spacers (still looking at options) went with KW . Love them. Get trim for your wheel wells so you don’t get rub. - Single midpipe (haven't decided on brand, but I want to get rid of as much rasp as possible, the smoothness of the b58 was perfect)- I did Valvetronic single midpipe in titanium. Sound is amazing! But you need a good valve controller. I’m trying Mode since it works with the OEM button instead of a remote. Arrives this week, will let you know. - Hardwired radar detector (deciding between Uniden R8 or Redline 360c) - Did Uniden and wired it to the mirror. I think it’s making my alarm go off. - Grill swap (CSL style), front lip - CSL grill is a must. Also changed front lip to more aggressive look. - Paint matched reflectors - Intake/exhaust - Carbon Fiber Eventuri - CSL drl module - All black cars should have yellow lights - CF air inlets - Also a must Check out my garage. I did a lot of mods and there are things I would have done differently. Sequential lights are a pain to get to work. |

Looking good, your mod list is similar to my own. Enjoy the process! I'm a bit over 700 miles and just scheduled break-in service for January 8th. Can't wait!

The RKP Enhanced Clearance Front Liner Set made it where I could lower the car and never worry about the rub. I was also able to put a thicker tire for a more comfortable ride. No rub on my Michelins with factory wheels and spacers, or my BC forged with continentals. |

12/30/2023 Full Llumar stealth ppf + Llumar IRX tint complete. 80% clear on windshield, 30% front, 5% rear. Clear ppf on the trim and CF roof.
Picked up some 12/15mm FC spacers as well, trying to decide what to lower on. Torn between H&R super sports/ KW HAS/ MSS HAS. |

Spacers installed. 15F/12R Future classic. Front rubs while in reverse at about 80-90% of full lock, but it’s not terrible. Will probably have to trim once I lower the car. Gonna order some rock guards for the front as well.

1/12 installed H&R sport springs, trimmed the liner. Doesn’t rub anymore except for a brief moment right before full lock. Will wait til it settles fully and get an alignment done. Loving the fitment overall though now, rides just like stock. Now I just need a lip, grille, and carbon air inlets.

1/18 installed some carbon pieces finally. CSL style grill and air inlets from NWCarbon Haus. This was a tremendous PITA and I would recommend you get a shop to do it, as it ended up taking me around 8 hours because I had quite a bit of problem with the clips holding the ducts and grill in place. Snapped the two little plastic tabs on either edge of the bumper as well, but the 8mm screws on either side closed the gap perfectly fine. Fitment is pretty good though, no complaints there, but I did feel like I was going to crush/crack the CF more than once when popping it in. Also realized the CSL style grill sits more recessed than the OEM, so the ppf edge is now exposed. Gonna ask the shop if they can do anything, but my gut is telling me I’ll either have to live with it or get the whole bumper redone.

2/3/2024- Installed my friend’s exhaust setup: Apexbuilt GESI catted downpipes, Bayoptiks single midpipe, IRL extended brace, and TFL Italy catback. This car really woke up with these mods and sounds properly loud, but can still be quiet when I want it to be. It shrieks from about 5500 rpm to redline in particular, and the burbles are definitely audible now! Gonna look into getting a valve controller next.

Looking good!!! Finally just finished my build. I saw you are looking to add a valve controller. I love my mode valve controller. It doesn’t need a remote control and ties in well with OEM settings, while still letting you open the valves full open if you want to overuse the car settings.

I got my light module from Vinyl Designs 2. My buddy's lip is the same as mine, the CT Carbon one. His air ducts I believe are just BMW OEM M Perf since he got the carbon exterior package. His grille is gloss black from Vorsteiner with the mesh, but the rest is CF.
