Again, all these renders won't work unless you also change the hood. In every render above, the outside curve of the grill far exceeds the width of the channels coming from the hood... and there's no way to blend the grill into the current shape of the nose that will look natural.

This completely breaks the whole design flow of a vertical grille like this. For those of us in such countries, the mandatory plate simply spoils the whole thing. We can see the logic of the new design if it's 'bare' - but in our locales, it looks a mess, like a quick Photoshop with a plate cut-and-pasted on as an afterthought.

Yea, you'd think that a German car company wouldn't make a design that isn't going to look dumb in their own country.

FACTS! All these new design queues are adding onto the complexities of an even busier grille! Too many elements to look at. Not as visually easy as the folks yelling for a change in design to pull off! As it is, the fascia WORKS!

Sorry man, not a troll here. I have been in love with m3's since I was 11 and saw the e30 m3 as a new model. I have owned e30's, an e36, an e46, an e90, an e91, two f30's and had planned to get a g80 to replace my current f30. (All 6mt, btw)

This car is such a disappointment. I am sure the motor and chassis are great, and I quite like the new interior, but that face. And honestly a lot of other little things about the body just don't sit well with me. I WANT to like this car, but I can't. With the front end I posted, I could be happy and look past the other little things, but not in its current guise.

I am glad others do like it. More power to you. Just not for me.

Fingers crossed the g87 looks good.

Nope. I was the same until I saw the car in person and the grill looks great on the car. I have an M3CS which is one of the best looking BMW ever made and would have no problem getting the G80 to replace it. The car looks awesome in person.

I don't think you understood my post. I mentioned bumper lips, hoods, (and i'll throw in wheels, and other bits that may get left off at the factory due to cost) can be tasteful and look good. However, this thread isn't about mods, it's about an attempt to change the defining features of a car because there's a small percentage of folks (most aren't future buyers) that just hate the grill to death.

BMW has literally decided that the 2021 is the normal M4. That is the new normal.

M2C, M2CS, Audi RS5, C63s Coupe with the 4 banger, base 911. The list goes on and on.

Plenty of other high performance sports coupes to choose from. Why spend time whining on the forums?

I hate that the new C63s is going to have a hybrid 4 banger. I’ve owned a few AMGs before. I’m not on the MB forums crying about it.

I was over whining about it long ago, have accepted it and can't wait for mine that is currently stuck at the port to get on a ship and get here. It's certainly not the design I would have gone with and do wish that it did have a more 'normal' BMW grille. But if you are going to ask me if I want a mini M8 then the answer is no. I would prefer an M4 that looks like what most people consider to be a normal BMW. That said, I know that BMW has decided that this is the new normal going forward. Time will tell how it works out for them. And, that also said, there really are not many other high performance coupes in the same class. I was all set to go get a C63 AMG coupe until MB decided not to bring any of their coupes over. Many other companies have stopped making them in favor of only sedans. Porsche gets really expensive really fast. So, BMW it is.
