So having the M240i with a full warranty, that is also fun to drive and I won't mind when I drive it over the M3 is good. I didn't put anything down for the M240i and could always back out if things don't go as the dealership said. If I was losing a bunch of money on swapping the X4 to the M240 I wouldn't do it but since I am actually selling it for more than what I bought it for I don't mind.... This market is nuts. Plus who knows if the Market stays like this I could potentially sell the M240i after the winter and when M3 winter wheels are available again and make money on the M240.
Until BMW can produce and ship cars with all the parts well beyond the demand the market probably won't change much. I think you can drive it and sell it in spring and come out okay.

Some of the domestic manufacturers (Ford & Crypsler) already are starting to have unsold inventory appear on dealer lots. Those same brands also have quite a few units in their pipelines not sold too. Hope you didn't pay all the money for a new F-150...

OP absolutely has problems. As long as you can afford to feed that habit and not worry about the potential losses on the trade-ins, have fun at it.

I've mapped out my route home from the Performance Center. Trying to keep it to mostly 2-lane roads to vary the RPMs during break-in. First night in Waynesville, morning drive on the Cherohala Skyway, then follow US27 from west of Knoxville to Lexington, then I-75 for the slog through Cincinnati. Second night in Dayton, then US127 up to the Northwoods.

When are you getting it? What color? Several of us (Barathon and I included) live in Dayton. Maybe we could get together.

Just under two weeks. Tanzantine Blue over Silverstone. Overnighting in Dayton near BMW of Dayton; arriving late, leaving early the next morning (weather permitting).

Thanks. Normally we'd see friends and family in Indianapolis, but I'm not taking chances with lake-effect snow (once we get near South Bend). If we run into winter precipitation, we'll just pull over and wait for it to pass. (We have a couple days in our back pocket to allow for it.)

So I modified the build on my M240i, I felt like it needed a little contrast so despite my normal preference for going shadowline on everything I took that off, switched the the Cerium Grey wheels and changed to the aluminum trim. I think it will look better that way in the end.

It's been months, what happened? Or did your sponsor intervene?

Haha no but my story took a couple more twists lol.

So the M240i was supposed to arrive by the end of December 2021, but then kept getting delayed.

Then in mid Jan someone didn't know how to drive in snow and ran me off the road when I was in my X4 M40i and unfortunately, I hit a guard rail and totaled the X4. At that time the M240 was still endlessly stuck in QC and I couldn't get any info as to when it would arrive. Since we were still having a lot of bad weather, I couldn't drive the M3 and rental car prices were absurd. So I made the difficult decision to give up on the M240i. (Fortunately, my buddy ended up taking it.. more on that later).

I couldn't find a BMW that was available that was to my liking at the time and ended up buying a new Genesis G70 and went on my way.

Well that only lasted 1 month!

I was telling my girlfriend that my plan was to see the G70 and then order an M340i for delivery just before winter 2023, so I had to build one and show her what they look like etc. Because it's still pre LCI M340i I then built an M440i to show her some of the LCI stuff. OOPS, yeah suddenly I decided that I wanted an M440i Gran Coupe.

It just so happened that one of the local dealerships had one in, so I went down and drive it and really liked it but I didn't like their build. I found one that was pretty much exactly as I would build it a state over and called to see if it was available... it was but when I mentioned that I was out of state they said that there would be a $10,000 market adjustment. I told them F that and no thanks.

So then I called my dealership and said, hey see if you can get this car thinking fat chance.. well a couple hours later and they called to say that the trade was already a done deal and the car was mine if I wanted it. They traded an X2 allocation of all things for the M440i that was at the VPC LOL.

Well needless to say, I traded in the G70 and now and the happy owner of both a gorgeous M3 and M440i Gran Coupe.

So no I definitely did not have a sponsor intervene LOL.

It's a really good thing that I didn't wait for the M240i though since it just finally arrived at the dealership last week!

I’ve purchased 3 BMW’s in one year, for me.

Started with a 330i—loved it; went to a track day and drove a m440 coupe. The 330i seemed bland thereafter and ordered an M4 - 5 months in, I got tired of waiting and bought a new M240x.

The M4 showed up 3 weeks after and then I bought that.

2021 330i - 10 months - sold it
2022 M240x - 3 weeks - sold it
2022 M4 - 4 months and still have it.

This can be an illness but this thread is our support group LOL
