Car revving a little under 1k in park

Hey my brand new g80 randomly starts revving a little under 1k rpm’s when parked as if it’s trying to heat something up or charge the battery if I rev it once it does it for a little more but then comes back down.

Shot in the dark here, but I remember my E90 M3 doing this during the winter months. Like you mentioned, I learned it had something to do with charging the battery. My current G80 has done this a couple times as well.

Cold start, in order to heat up the cats as quickly as possible. It's emissions-related.

Wish I could code it off. Super annoying and makes the car jerky when parking and moving around.

If the vehicle is warmed up, perhaps something to do with the charging system & adjusting voltage. Exhaust note makes it more pronounced compared to a non M car.

My X3M did this and now my G80 too. Totally normal, likely battery / charge related.
